Since I've noticed that people are starting to talk about caravans to the picnic, I figured we could start a thread about it seperate from the picnic thread. I'll start off with the upstate ny people. We've got Eric in Hudson Falls, myself in Saugerties, possibly Mark in Kingston and Michael in Poughkeepsie, all along the Thruway. Should we all meet near an onramp in Poughkeepsie maybe and then proceed south? We also could possibly coordinate with other caravans such as people coming from NH, MA, CT, RI, and NYC/Long Island, to meet up, probably in northern Jersey or something. It sure would be cool to have different caravans meeting up and then merging into one giant Buick convoy! :Brow:
Zach, That is a great idea. And if we co-ordinate cell phone numbers, we can more easily communicate the trip in route. Let me know what can be done on my end. Thanks, Mike
Yah, this is definitely a great idea... just keep me updated and let me know what you need (cell/home phone, etc) Bad news, though... possible engine woes on the Skylark so I may be following way in the back in my *coughhondacough*
 I could do that, too... Mike L (Beamer) said that if I needed to and he had room I could hitch a ride with him
Back to the top. The day is almost here!! So, lets lay out a plan for us NY Thruway people. Are we all going to meet up in Poughkeepsie at a certain time and then cruise on down to Jersey? Who would we have: Eric, Mark, Mike and myself?
Who is getting there by going North on I95? I'll meet you if you want. I'm sure I'll be in the minivan or the Intrepid. Riv won't be ready for sure.:ball:
??? From the south I will be coming up from the south, however when I try to mapquest to Holmdel Park, mapquest cannot find it. Marco, I tried both 12 Linden and 2 Linden and mapquest has no record of wither address. As such, I am still looking for the most direct route from the south. I am 5 minutes from I 95 and 10 minutes to the Delaware Memorial Bridge (NJ-295 and also the Jersey Turnpike). Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
I probably won't be leaving here until about 11am, my mom will be with me but thats no issue. I will be driving the Skylark... my route is... http://maps.yahoo.com/py/ddResults....ntry=us&Submit=Get+Directions&stp=a&stx=&csz= I know that Mike (Beamer) and Zach (73Electra 225) are both on the way down for me... I'd go over to I95 but thats another 4 hours added onto my trip... sorry Jeff Oh, and here is some directions to the park for you http://maps.yahoo.com/py/ddResults....country=us&newtcsz=Holmdel,+NJ&newtcountry=us
Re: Re: ??? From the south Here is the Mapquest link, and Here are the directions from Newark DE. See you Saturday!
Re: ??? From the south Paul glad to hear your coming up can't wait to hear that new motor. Take your pick of coming North 95 or 295 but make your way up to I-195 East then check out the directions I've posted for coming off of I-195 to the park.
Great What time and where? I will be coming up 95 and breaking off on to 295 south of Wilmington. Should we post cell phone numbers? Hey - how much are tolls? Us southeners don't know about such things.... - Bill :eek2:
I think I'm going to try and leave on the early side. I'd like to get there before noon if possible. But knowing me, who knows .
As sad as it makes me, there is still rain in the forecast. The bad part of that is, my Suncoupe top is still not done. Actually I am kind of waiting on a friend to help me that has done it before. And I am in fear of taking it in the rain. It looks like I will not be able to make it as of now. Mike
This is my plan as of now. My wife works nights and won't be home until 7:30-8 am. The earliest I could get out is by around 8:30. I really want to drive my 69 Stage 1 down even though it hasn't seen rain in over 10 years. I'm going see what is going on weatherwise. Seems it can't make its mind up to rain or not. Is one nice day on a weekend too much to ask. :af: Mark
Mark I've known you what ?? 10 years now ?? All this time and I've yet to see your '69 !! Alittle rain never hurt anything ....plus you can prove to me this car isnt a spectre
We're looking to get an early start and hope to be down there around eleven. I work nights and plan to get some sleep in while Rich drives. I think I'll sacrifice a chebby to the weather gods friday and hopefully we'll have decent weather saturday.
Alan, Now you know why it only has 33,000 miles on it. :Brow: Between the soggy weather and the 3.64 gears, it usually only comes out for shorter trips. The 67 (2.93's), 64 (2.78's) and the GN with overdrive are much easier rides. Gotta get the 68 wagon ready for the trailer. Obviously I wouldn't trailer to the picnic. Hopefully the rain will hold off until Sunday. Mark
