my 72 Electra sits 2 inches higher at the right rear wheel or 2 inches lower on the left . before I replace the rear springs I have the automatic leveling system . if this is faulty or not working can that be the cause ?
    thanks

If the unit on the low side is non-functional, that will explain the difference in ride height.

You can always swap right spring for left and see where it sits. Believe it or not there is a direct correlation between opposite corners (front to rear) of the vehicle. That means if the front right corner is higher, then the opposite (diagonal) left rear corner can measure to be lower. But 2" would seem a bit extreme for that to be the case, .... plus you would notice the front not being level as well.

could one of the air shocks be faulty by any chance ? im probably just going to swap them out for regular shocks if that's the case .
