This keeps happening so I had to register a second user name. I can't log in with my original username (crawdadman), from work. Am using windows 7 and IE, anyone know why I can't log in? It used to take two trys, now never will let me in. seems to work OK from home using windows 8 and IE. ????
OK, now after registering another name I am able to log in under crawdadman. Was able to log out and back in with new username (seconduser). Don't get it, any help? Thanks
I realize this is a dated thread but was wondering if you (or anyone out there) ever found out why you need to log in twice for it to "take". This same mystery happens to me the majority of the time ( 80-90%). I have just gotten used to having to re-input my id and pw but is a nuisance for sure. I currently have windows platform(10) with internet explorer (current level). Don't have this issue with the other technical forum I belong to but then the name is different. Any ideas appreciated! John
Try logging out of the board, then clear cookies in your browser. Load the site again, log in and make sure you click the Remember Me box.
David, thanks for the advise! I did try your suggestion by clearing the browsing history, etc. and it didn't seem to make any difference. I noticed that the original post was about the same problem and inferring that the user name can present some problems to the website; not sure what that would be or what to change. If you have any other Ideas, let me know. John
Sorry I don't have any other suggestions. Did you actually click the Log Out link first, and not just close the site down, before clearing cookies? You might also try deleting your bookmark, if you have one, and creating a new one. I'm using W10 with Chrome for a browser for quite a long time now. I never have this issue.
David, Just to update my last post on log in issues: I have discovered that when signing in with my password manager prompting my correct forum name and password that I need to allow a few more seconds before hitting the "Log In" button in order for the V8 forum to register/accept my sign in. I've been consciously trying to slow down the sign in process and it seems to be working much better now (no second entry-retries required). Maybe this info will help some one else eliminate this frustration! Thanks for previous suggestions!! John
