Looked under front and rear seats, under the carpet, behind the door panels, under the package tray, behind the sail panels and it's gone. I think I'm going to cry. :ball:

Not every car has the build sheet hide away somewhere in the car.

Did you try looking on top of the fuel tank ?

I know the fuel tank was replaced in 1980??? I believe. Chances of it being there are none.

    Try

Looking up under the dash, above the wires, you may find the Fischer body sheet there. :TU:

Hey Dan I recently found this piece of paper under the front seat. Is it a Fisher body sheet?

Duane my car was built in Fremont Ca. It is kind of a strange sheet since it doesn't seem to have enough info to be a build sheet but it shows different aspects about the car. The part that says serial number matches the last 4 digits of the number on the dash.
It does show there may still be some hope for big C on the gas tank. The only thing that wasn't original inside my car was the front seat. They pulled it out reupolstered it and never touched the paper under the seat. You can see the spring marks on the paper. Dave

well we have removed both seat and gone though them both. They were redone in 1981. I think if there was any sheet then it was tossed in 1981. But I will keep looking as more pieces are removed. I may just find it in a place we never would even think of.

On second thought...lets not go to camelot...it is a silly place.

    Dave,
I just got back on to say I answered my own question. The codes came up as Fremont codes. (Each assembly plant used different codes to index information.)

You are correct that this is a Fisher sheet. They used it to build your interior. Basically it is a "cheat sheet". At this stage of assembly, the line workers only needed certain info, so they took the needed info from the full build sheet and made this one. If you find the full sheet you will see what I mean.

Pretty cool car, judging by the options. Going by the Codes I am coming up with a 71 GS 350, 4-speed, with black deluxe front bench with armrest and coupe rear, power windows, disc brakes, and some type of optional wheel, such as Chrome 14" or 15", or 14" painted super sport wheels. (Not 100% sure of the motor, but pretty sure.)

    How did I do?
    Duane

PS, If you don't mind I would appreciate it if you could PM me with your full vin number and the info from the ID plate on the cowl. This would allow me to index your sheet in my records. Thanks in advance.

You did real good on the deciphering and yes the car is pretty cool. The original owner, my boss ordered it from the factory when he came home from Vietnam. He was 20 at the time and he needed a car to get to work so this was what he ordered and bought from Simpson buick in Downey Ca. Even then a young guy needs a cool set of wheels. What better choice than a Buick.
You were right about the motor but the wheels are the chrome super sport style. The other options he got were the in dash tach and posi rear end plus ac of course. It's hot in so cal.
I'll email you the info you asked about.

Glad you enjoyed it Big C. It's kind of nice that even though I haven't found the build sheet at least I found something worthwhile under the seat. It was part of the deal my boss made me promise to give him any change I found under the seats. He thinks he's so old anything under there is valuable.

    Dave,
    So I did pretty good.
The codes told me your car came with the chrome center caps, but didn't go any further then that, so I had no way of knowing what type wheels it came with. Thanks for sending the info.

And you guys thought I was just another pretty face around here.

    Brad,
I knew if I "threw" that out there I would snag someone, the question was how many. Pretty cool sheet isn't it.

    Duane,

Just how much of the interior did Fisher install?

    Darren,
That is a question I can't answer, but I've often wondered about that myself. If you look at the build sheets they list the body side molding for the shell seperately from the body side molding for the front fenders.
I guess Fisher was responsible for the shell back, while Buick was responsible from the firewall forward.

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

This site though applicable to early Camaros, gives a pretty detailed view of assembly line procedures. A good read.
