It is Flint made 2 door Electra hardtop early model year . By the position of the number "1" I would have said it is a 1961 but I am unsure about the year. Did you copy the Vin correctly?
4847 was for the Electra 225 2 door hardtop in 1962-1963-1964. Like Jim said, are you sure about the 1? Because I don't think that 1961 Electra 225's were available in 2 door hardtop body style. The 1 might have been an I which means 1962.
From what I was told it is supposed to be a 1971 Riviera GS. However, I already bought it. Just haven't picked it up. My dad bought it for me sight unseen (by me). He saw the car, bought it, and brought home pics. Daryn
A 71 Riv is a 9000 series car and starts 4 94871H ...... The first 4 is for Buick. I am guessing the number was miscopied.
OK. Assuming it was miscopied, would that show it being a real GS, or does the firewall tag only tell that story. I'm curious to know how well Dad spent my money. The car does not have buckets or console. Does have a POSI!!. Daryn
The GS package didn't include bucket seats, 3.42 posi was standard on the 65-72 Riviera GS Here is a link to the ROA webpage that might help: http://www.rivowners.org/features/70-75/index.html
Thanks guys. Your help is appreciated. It is most likely a GS. I'll find out for sure when I get it to PA. It may also be up for sale sometime after. Daryn
Stage 1 vin verification Who can I call to verify a stage 1 VIN that starts with 444670H300? I know that Sloan does the lower #s but I dont know who does 193552 and up. Can someone help me? Please e mail me at crashklein@aol.com if you can. Thanks
To the best of my belief records for 1971 were never rescued when GM closed the Flint Plant so I do not think Sloan or anyone has them. The 70 records were rescued and are split between Wayne Roberts and Sloan. As for the number you posted there is no point in getting the records because it is not a Stage 1 number or even a GS number. It is a Skylark Custom convertible number which means it came with a 350 cid engine.
