Cam I mix poly and rubber bushings?

67 GS with Spohn double adj upper and lower trailing arms with del-sphere joints. I have a Moser 12-bolt coming that is shipped with rubber bushings in the pumpkin. Is there any reason I can’t run these 2 rubber bushings in combo with the 6 del-sphere bushings? Seems like going from 8 down to 2 rubber bushings will take most of the slop out of the 4-link and I should be fine.
I’ll be launching w drag radials and Hellwig anti roll bar.

Nope, no reason you can't Cam.. Just use locknuts on the upper arms, and don't tighten them all the way up.. that will keep torsional aspect out of the bushing, and make it just a simple link, like the rest of your bushings.

Thanks for the confirmation Jim. Now if all this snow would melt I could realize the fruits of my winter labors!

Yes,you can mix them, but the only concern or issue would be that the rubber bushings will deflect more,or take more of the distortion. If you have one stiffer bushing(urethane),and one softer bushing(rubber),the rubber bushing is going to flex or distort more, and could possibly wear prematurely. I haven’t personally tried any tests, but I have worked on a few cars that had the rubber bushings in the ears of the rearend housing, and had aftermarket arms with urethane bushings, and the rubber bushings in the housing were chewed up real bad, causing wheel hop,and other issues. One of these cars had the housing bushings replaced with new rubber bushings, and at least one other still had the original rubber bushings, but the result was the same. Kinda like the weakest link in the chain. Just something to think about.

Ya, that’s what I was wondering about. Sounds like it’ll likely be okay, but those rubber bushings will be the first place I look should there be any issues. Thanks!
