I went over the rules with Jim and understand how he wants the board to run. If I list anymore iteams I will follow the way Jim would like his board run.My appologies to 65lark.Chris

I also pulled all my ads due to the frustrations of some of the unmanageable pm's, emails, questions, ect. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Ebay just is easier and simpler to deal with.I just wanted less stress to sell some rare parts to collectors here that might be of need of them. After all my adds were pulled by myself as I was placing iteams on ebay, I was contacted to sell some iteams before they hit ebay. Here it is difficult to please many. The world seems more forgiving to sell to.

Just curious what are the Ebay auction numbers are for these parts that were listed on here. That may make it more credible rather than the back pedal technique. If there are no auction numbers then it didn't happen that way as said.

I've seen this happen quite often on here in the last few years. You can almost guess on which parts too as they get listed.

not that I have a dog in the fight, but 48 hours is a really long time for some on to pick a part off the swap meet table and think about it. In the real world cash is king.

I read the classifed ads abut twice a day. often times a seller lists something, gets a half a dozen guys "in line" or "interested", only for it to get to the fifth or sixth guy before it is sold. Sometimes the "interested" parties never even respond again. for the seller its a complete waste of time. waiting for 6 guys is at 48 hours is almost 2 freaking weeks! I say 2 hours max. If you want it, you'll buy it. commit to it. if ya miss out, well too bad. if you needed it so badly that you are angry you missed out, then you probably should have bought it.

I have rarely heard any complaints about my suggested time limit for working with a potential buyer.. because I think it's actually pretty rare for that much time to pass.. most transactions happen within minutes.

My thinking was that there are actually guys on here who don't live on the computer, like most of us do, but maybe only check it once a day. I would hate for them to miss out on a long sought after part, because something happened one day and he didn't get to check the computer.. But then again, we can't have sellers waiting forever, so a couple days seemed like a fair amount of time for everyone.

In actual practice, based on feedback I have gotten, it's been more likely that the seller disappears, than a potential buyer, as strange as that seems.

I hope you dont have a dog in a fight because its illegal just ask Mr. Vick.:spank:

That buzzing phrase needs to go just like the terms "I jewed him down" or if a repair is deemed poorly you cant say "n.........r rigged.:Smarty:

I told our local circle track announcer that I would not make the comment over the PA while calling a dirt track race. "Trying to get the lead from ................ is like trying to take a steak from a Pit Bull." I said anybody can take a steak from my Pit Bull or any other food item.

Agree that if the rules are followed, there are few problems on who get's what. It's the PM's behind the posts that cause all the grief.:puzzled:

I've been 4-5-6 people back inline to buy & actually been able to get the part.Sometimes i need to figure out funding,i dont allways have $$$ in my PP account or need to take a breather to figure if i really NEED that part.Or check to see if it will fit for that matter.Very few of us have interchange manuals.

I also just listed 3 items that sold in less than 4-5 hours with no problems,so my opinion is it works as well as can be expected.:TU:

Ive had plenty of luck with the current system. I understand what Jason is saying and in this instance I think there was some confusion, but overall id rather buy/sell here than evilbay anyday!!:beer

Shawn, I actually felt bad about that, only 6 minutes seperated us!
And I totally agree with you, I've won some, I've lost some as far as getting in line for parts, and I would way rather distribute the wealth amongst my buick brothers, and honestly they are usually priced better than people who are just trying to make a buck on evilbay

Don't sweat it!! You called first dibs fair and square! And it was a pretty good score if I may say so, congrats to you:TU: . Now I just gotta buy one of Jamies starters new, which was the plan all along anyways.

    New SBB That HURT

I've had essentially this same scenario happen to me here. Tried for several days to get a PM response from a seller with no luck. Then, later in the evening on a Sunday night there is a PM regarding a lower price offer by the seller. Then 2 hrs later, another PM that it is sold! The problem is that I signed off for the night before the first message to me. The next day I see someone else after me "in line" offered full price and got the part. Sounds to me like the swap meet etiquette went out the window, and I never got the chance to close the deal. 48 hrs?? I would have liked to had a fraction of that to respond. Investigation by the powers that be resulted in absolutely no explanation as to how the events unfolded. All I know is that the "rules of the road" in this Parts for Sale forum have not been enforced as a result. Seems that some members of the board get different treatment than others.
