I just discovered that some jagoff (that's a Pittsburgh term) hit and bent my front bumper, busted the headlight, bent the bumper about a half inch on the driver's side, driver side hood gap pinched, driver door front gap pinched. I gather there's no repro 1965 Skylark front bumpers...can my body shop bend it back, or am I hunting for an original? P.s. Mine's nice, super clean.
I don't know of any repros for 65s. Sometimes they can put them in a press and straighten them, depending on how bad it is.
Hate hearing things like this. Will your insurance help with any repairs? If your bumper has not lost any significant mass to rust, and has not been rechromed, it is a good candidate to be straightened, repaired and re-chromed. Ogden is one place that has the correct jigs and does triple step plating (copper, nickel, chrome). They will create a "call tag" and ship it both ways. http://www.ogdenchrome.com Give them a call and see if they can take care of it. Good luck.
Thanks to you both for these replies. My bumpers perfect, no holes, no pits, chrome beautiful. Im going to ask my body guys if they can make it right - its only bent a little - will pursue insurance if its above $500, which it shouldnt be. Ill keep Ogden in my back pocket.
