Hello, I have a century custom 1976. The front bumper, one energy absorber is pushed in, (think former owner hit something) so the bumper is not in line. How do I 'reset' this?...just pull somewhere or is there a catch to it. Marcel
I'm pretty sure they're not designed to be reset. Even if you could pull it out and line it up straight it wouldn't work right the next time if you hit something, probably causing even more damage. Try looking around junkyards or put a post in the parts wanted section to see if anybody here has one.
My Chevelle had these energy absorbing bumpers when new. We basically "gutted" them and turned them into an empty tube. That allowed us to set the bumper wherever we wanted it, which in our case was one inch closer to the body than stock. That way you can re-use all the pieces you already have on hand. By the way, the bumpers are now held on with .25"x2" aluminum fabricated straps. :TU: K
