I swear I need to cut my backstock by at least 50% - I have no idea where my box of axle straps went, thankfully I had to go to the store to get an alternator for my 'burb so I could pick them up twice... and wrong... but at least the second set could be convinced to fit

it's official, the driveshaft was the right one... yahoo.
I have no idea what I'm going to do with this
    [IMG]
    or this
    [IMG]

as far as I'm concerned it could sit but I'd still like to reduce backstock.... lord I hate craigslisting stuff, but I may force myself....

what's cool is the UPS driver hoofed these down to the shop.... he also brought other gifts
    intake
    [IMG]
    headers that almost fit
    [IMG]
I think I'm going to heat the bracket and reform it a touch
    [IMG]
    for cheap, they fit perfect

sharp eyes will note in the next update that there's a large space on the front, passenger side. Nothing to see, just move along ;)

    schnazzy
    [IMG]

somewhere I have new seals for the injectors.... sigh... oh well, along with one bracket for the rails, it didn't come with bolts for the intake...oh well, if it were easy everyone would do it

On another site someone talked about 15 hp Corollas.... or something... so we're all on the same page
now we're talking about brackets. For an LS motor. no Corollas.

    whew, that was hard.

Bumper update. $1300. The bumper wasn't repairable (which I would dispute because anything is savable, just look at this car), so they're bringing a replacement in February. I might have been able to do better, but given no one on the Buick forums have piped up before now with an alternative, and finding another one has not been easy.... well, it is what it is.... and maybe even underscores why I'm putting the LS in for the moment (as cost savings)

I guess a little late, but I got a front and rear bumper from this guy last fall for my '64 Skylark coupe for $1800 including shipping. He supplied the cores and did the rechroming and shipped from California to New Mexico. They look good, but I haven't put them on my car yet so I can't say how they will hold up. Front should be the same, but rear is different for wagons.

that isn't far off what I'd pay - $1300 for the rear, $500 to chrome the front (it's in good enough shape that I'm just going to polish it)... I was just hoping to be at $700....

    Open box day
I don't know if I should be thankful or hide because the top box.... that has a plate in it to cover the firewall hole... that's it - I figure I probably killed 3 baby seals and one polar bear with the box and blow foam inside...

I'm not certain I'm going to use this on the Buick, but it was $30 (Amazon returns) so I bought it
    [IMG]

cam and springs are here... I've always had a soft spot for Sig Erson - long, long ago, I met him ... must have been 8 or 9, he was beyond nice to me... when the stars align, I still buy from them (even though he and his company are no longer the little cam shop in California)

and a balancer bolt. I'm dangerously close to pulling the motor and doing the updates....

I got some done today, but between grading and all the other stuff, I didn't get as far as I'd wish.... then the power blew out

    fitting
    [IMG]

    chopping
    [IMG]
    more fitting
    [IMG]
    welding
    [IMG]

all welded in place, all I have left is the rearmost corner and beside being a bugger to finish, shouldn't be too hard to fit

after the expensive, FJ$0 news, (not a typo).... I got to work on this
started welding in the bottom patch panel
    [IMG]
for those wondering if this is show-car-level, absolutely not
    [IMG]

worked on this corner (and it was my work that caused the damage)

    yeah this didn't work
    [IMG]

not the big slide hammer either
    [IMG]

See the black lines? that is where the bend should be
    [IMG]

it was time to go neanderthal and cut then beat it back into some better shape
    [IMG]

me like big hammer, me do this more often....

    a change of pace
    [IMG]

    remarkably clean inside
    [IMG]
cam is worn, but not bad for 200k
    [IMG]

    and bagged for the night
    [IMG]

now to work on the firewall...

part of this was to get the engine parts on the motor but I also need to get the firewall finished and painted... then I can start permanent assembly and more importantly make it a running vehicle
