Good Morning, I found this lead on craigslist locally I spoke to Les Tarlton. His Father Truman Tarlton has been building mainly Chevy engines his whole life. He is 90 years old, so interesting and hard to talk to at the same time. Truman Built a Buick 455 with forged rods and pistons, Edelbrock heads that are ported and polished with an Edelbrock Intake. He seems to know his stuff and apparently a Big Buick guy even though he built Chevy's for a living. He believes the Buick 455 is the best flowing engine outside of the LS series Chevy's. The engine he has, has not been fired as of yet. He apparently has 3 grand in the heads by what he told me. He claims to have over 10 grand in the build at this point, possible if you don't wheel and deal. He said he would sell it for 7,500 dollars. I think it will have to come down more to sell to be honest. At that level of money I am out since I already have a built 462 and getting this one would just be to have a spare BBB. The block is a 1976 Blue Block, it has a Lunati cam that he admitted he would go with a hydraulic roller if he had thought the build out more thoroughly. If anyone on here is interested in this motor let me know. Most communication is routed through Les Tarlton. I can get the contact information for him to anyone interested. From there he can get you Truman Tarlton's contact. He has 2 455 cores as well as some SBC cores as well. One LS series motor and some Vortec motors. I think if someone doesn't grab this motor it is going to go to waste. It might be a struggle to get but it needs to go in someone Buick. Just not mine at this time.
I think for $7500 I'd have to see pics of all the parts that went into it plus dyno run charts. If a Chevy guy built it, it might be built right and it might not.
Oh I agree. The guy hasn't even fired it. So no Dyno runs. I don't think he will get 7500. I have the Craigslist posting. Ill.post it in a few.
