After reading the pros and cons about Reatta,I feel as I would not be able to maintain such a vehicle, even though I fell in love with them when they first came out. I had better stick to the 70s and maybe the 80s cars. I still have hanging in my shop, a 4ftx8ft actual dealer show room photo of a red Reatta. Ironic as it is,I had delivered today, to my shop, a good running 455 BBB complete. Now to find a car for the motor. Thanks for listening Kenny

Kenny, I have had 4 of them and they all were extremely reliable. It is very common to see Reatta's with 200 thousand miles on them for sale so again, that show's reliability. The are comfortable, drive great, adequate on power and get fantastic gas mileage, usually low 20's typical running around and around 30 traveling. The 3800 V6 is one of the best powerplants ever put in a car. If you are reading forums to base your decision. don't forget, that's where people go when they have a problem so of course it is going to seem like there are lots of issues. Is there any one issue that pops out that you are worried about?
As I said, I have had 4 and I have little doubt there will be a 5th.

I agree with the above post. We have had two 1990 Reatta's, one new and one used. Loved both of them. Never had any serious problems with either of them. The only thing that would worry me about having one now are the Reatta-specific parts that are no longer available from GM. Maybe the after-market is filling the gaps now.
If I was to buy another one, I would look for a 91 because of their superior ABS system. The Bosch system on the earlier cars is known to be problematic.

The 88-91 had a Teeves anti lock system, and was one of the best in the industry at the time, many high end Europeans used it as well. If the system has been maintained properly it is still very reliable, there are some parts for the Teeves that are becoming hard to find and a little on the costly side but they are also starting to reproduce and source from other venues. The 91 system is easier to work on and less complicated but more run of the mill - that said, 91's are much harder to come by as 91 production was very limited (about 1500 cars) You are always best off buying the best maintained Reatta you can afford.

90 was the first year to have airbag if that is important to you, 90 also did away with the CRT touchscreen which I loved.
