this little beauty is sitting outside in the cold. 2 degrees Celsius plus windchill.
Spotted her (Close to Munich) on my way to the supermarket. You don't see them very often in the wild.
Condition appears very nice but something needed attention as she is sitting at this Chrysler Garage for several weeks now.

Google tells me it is a 1949(?). I did the sedanette style.

What is that thing on the hood?

If you are referring to the ornament on the top front it was nicknamed bombsite. It was common on Buick's of that era.

I am asking about the green and yellow winged thingy, not the standard hood ornament..

Dunno. But it also says Buick in it. So maybe period correct?

The picture set of the car out in front of the Chrysler garage depicts a different vehicle that the one in the ad. There is a spotlight emerging from sheet metal below the driver's window on the "Chrysler " car, while the ad car has no such spotlight, but does have a simple rear view mirror, mounted higher. The "Chrysler " car also has porthole fillers, an after market item, while the other doesn't.

Red rims on these were a relatively common option.

I agree with porthole fillers and spotlight as being different. But that could be mounted after the purchase.
One has to ask how many of these (a rare 1949 Buick Super sedanette in grey and good condition) are running around in Germany. Probably very few.
A shame the add sports only one picture...?

Good thing is I do not have space or time for it as the price (as per add) is also beyond my means...

The Buick Eight on the grille is in red on the one car and in correct black on the other, the Buick crest on the front of the hood is also far nicer on the 2nd car. Different whitewalls, rear mudflaps in the 2nd car as well.

That was an aftermarket bug deflector, they came in all colors and wild configurations, I have seen them just plain wings, ones that look like a speedometer with wings, ones with propellers, some were just plain wacky. Pictures below give you an idea how wild they could

Update: not sure what happened or if the car has any major issues however she got dragged from the front row and now sits in the shabby backyard..... crying shame

    Early ‘49
(fender lights on the fender tops.
Late ‘49 Buicks gad the fender light below the headlights)

The car concerned in this thread is a Super.

Roadmaster and Super looked the same throughout the '49 model year; turn signals as pictured here, top of fender. No other configuration for '49.

1949 (Early) Special was a carry-over from '48, and had turn signals below the headlights. Relatively few were made in anticipation of an all-new '50 Special, which came out early. The '50 Special had a completely different front end, consistent with the rest of the '50 Buicks, and the turn signals were integrated into the bumperettes.

    Thanks for the correction.
My memory was hazy on that before.

I still like it! A great body style, and a really good car.
