Beefsteak. I like them best and Roma’s. I’m not a big fan of vine ripe

As a proud Canadian....there's inside and outside food season. Outside food season I grill pretty much every night. Top sirloin....marinated chicken thighs... centre cut bone in pork chops. Inside food season a couple of years ago I discovered instant pot and that little bugger changed my life! Beef stroganoff....butter chicken....endless easy chop dump cook recipes...buy one if you don't have one!

Docgsx, You CERTAINLY know how to tempt a southern man... Nothing better than two slices of white bread, plenty of crisp BACON, a good beefsteak tomato, fresh loose-leaf lettuce, and best of all MIRACLE WHIP (Food of the Gods!!!), and a good lelping of black pepper!!! No need for apologies, that looks DELICIOUS!!!

994E17C6-4AA3-419C-B5CC-B9D86E6C58FF.jpeg So today I decided to fry a ham the way you might fry a turkey at Thanksgiving 2B12DD44-2587-4F32-9319-4B373B44BBCD.jpeg . I read something about it and decided it would be interesting if it turns out well. so I mixed up a marinade of Michigan apple cider 8 ounces, mustard powder, onion powder, garlic powder, dark brown sugar.

Got a 9 pound fresh uncooked never frozen ham from Publix. I’m trying the butt end.

got my turkey fryer heated up to 350. Cook at three minutes per pound. Looking to get an inside temperature of the meat about 165°F

i’m cooking it now so we’ll see what happens!

my inspiration comes from this ol’ boy!

Finished product, very tasty, does not taste like ham at all. FBF44960-5E4D-4EB9-A411-9E6ED31730D7.jpeg C802E53C-E598-4869-B6A1-CCD5275BA277.jpeg D66E1685-75F7-4512-96DF-02730FEB73DD.jpeg

What's everyone cooking for Thanksgiving? Me, two bone in Prime Ribs. Maybe go the "no peek" on one, and the other on the grill.

Doc, looks interesting. Did the ham retain its juiciness?

Much of it did retain the moisture and juices. I had a faulty thermometer that I was using and ended up over cooking part of it. I think next time I’ll split it and cook two pieces separately. I will slightly undercook them and finish them in the oven wrapped in foil, on low temp for 2–3 hours like you would do your ribs.

Dry aged for about 4 days that makes the enzymes break down the protein...result is super tender.

And ready to go in at 500 degrees for 30 minutes and then shut the oven off. Until 130 degrees or maybe 127. And then “boom”!

I got caught up and forgot to take all the pictures… I did fry a turkey and the girls did all the sides and desserts. 30 minute cook time on the turkey and it was absolutely perfect F4D74CE4-02B2-4AFE-830A-BBC95AE86FE8.jpeg 3C7E3D78-2E38-4699-A2F5-932C4C332B31.jpeg

I did a simple garlic butter infusion and dry rub of Morton’s seasoning. The flavor was amazing!
