Hi. I built this engine several years ago and i deleted the PCV system, and installed breather caps at the valve covers and a KN filter at the lifter gallery breathing. I see that the oil is making a mess in the engine room and i also can feel the "smell" of oil. Can anyone recommend another solution for this, like a catch can ? I do not want to put the oil brether to the air filter and destroy my MAP sensor. Thanks ! IMG_5055.jpg IMG_5056.jpg IMG_5057.jpg IMG_5059.jpg IMG_5055.jpg

You can run one or both of your valve cover vents to your exhaust.
    Like a header evacuation system...

    I would re-install PCV with a separator mdjag2.jpg
See separator on firewall. Pulls from one valve cover thru PCV in hose. Fresh air comes in breather on driver side valve cover.

BQUICK, not to change the thread. But a question on your set up. Looking at your vac pump - it appears you go from ported side of carb to pump to brake vac inline? Did I get that correct? And, your breather tube goes to where? Thanks, byron

No vac pump just separator. No vac brake.
Pulls vac at front bottom of carb.

Thanks. Do you have a breather for the lifter gallery like the Performer intake ?

No I blocked that off but you could draw from there (if you have valley pan or baffle) and have a fresh air input on valve cover.

I have no valley pan. Have soft intake gaskets. Did not have the knowledge when i rebuilt the engine 10 years ago

    I'd install a valley pan/splash shield first:cool:

Why would you delete the PCV system?

If motor is tight with no blowby you could pass on the separator. I prefer to run one....keeps intake valves clean.....and if separator starts collection oil then you know you have a problem....

There is absolutely no good reason to do that on a street driven car IMHO. The PCV keeps the oil cleaner and prevents oil leaks.

Thanks for responding. I do have the valley pan. And i talked to the guys at Holley and they say that i can use the 3/8 connection back on the sniper trottle body for the PCV valve. Then i think i will use a PCV valve installed like factory in back of the intake, and connect a hose to the bottom of the trottle body like Holley tech said. Am i right ? Please tell me what to do with the two breathers / oil fill caps that i use for the valve covers ? Do i switch one of them to a closed one and let the other be vented ?

That is exactly what you do. My SP1 intake has a fitting in the plenum that I use for PCV. Leave the breathers, both of them. Air enters the engine through them and is removed through the PCV hose and valve effectively venting the crank case.
