I've been working on making a main girdle for the Buick 350 for over a year. they are now available. I believe the need is there due to the higher hp's guys are making with pro-charged and turbo charged 350's. some around 1000hp. this plus with TA making a single plane manifold and aluminum heads we'll see some high winding 350's. See the pics of the finished product. the girdle kit will include everything needed,including studs ,bolts,washers and nuts, to install the girdle. We have 1 350 girdle left, won't be making another run till we have orders for a min of 5. $699.00 TA now sells their 455 girdle for $599 as a comparison. gary
Simply,the buick motor has 2 bolt main caps making the caps prone to "walking" under high loads from hp or rpm. The girdle ties the caps together and to the block skirt to strengthen everything as a unit minimizing walk and block flex. The 350 is actually stronger than the 455, a girdle is a must for the 455 past 620 or so hp or 6500rpm. They also are 2 bolt mains but the skirt ends at the crank centerline vs the 350 where the skirt ends at the bottom of the caps. gary
