Helpful tips for Buick 350 install in a G Body ok im taking out my 305 that i have in my 83 regal. I wanted to get input/tips from people that have put a buick 350 into a G body. Im keeping the TH350 that is in it atm. What am i gonna need to get. How much fabricating is there? best headers to fit in engine compartment?
Re: Helpful tips for Buick 350 install in a G Body If the car was a Buick V6 it is a bolt in swap. Since it is a chevy engine it is more complicated but still no need for any fabricating, just part swapping. You will need to find the frame pads and engine mounts for a V6 Regal... Then it is a bolt in swap, IF your trans has a BOP bellhousing. Some of the trans in those years were chevy only and others where the multi-pattern so you could use either chevy or buick old pontiac engines. You will have to do some re-wiring for the starter and dist. but nothing major. I think you need a buick fan shroud as well. I am pretty sure a v6 shroud works but you have to remove the extension to make it fit for the 350. I am not sure if the accessories will fit from the chevy. You might need to find a donor regal with a v6 to get those parts from. Headers are a major headache in the G body, I suggest keeping the manifolds... If you do go with the headers go with Hookers they fit the best but still require mods to fit I have heard.
Re: Helpful tips for Buick 350 install in a G Body Sean pretty hit the head of the nail on most of it. If you are interested in pictures and details on the swap I have done it, but with swapping out the 3.8. Go to gbodyforum.com and look for me as tobyp and my threads. I have quite a few posts about it.
