I called TA Tuesday and spoke with Tim. He said the last of the of the second stage of CNC work is almost complete and they should be moving on to the last step to drill the spark plug holes. I told him I won’t need a set for a few months and he said they’ll be ready before then. Hopefully the block I purchased is not an issue. I’m dropping it off to the machinist on Saturday. I would like to see some testing done to get an idea what I can expect on my build.
Saw a video late yesterday (uploaded about 4pm, CST for me) on facebook doing the last of the heads for spark plug holes.
How could the "Team Buick" forum have a video showing these heads on a running motor at TA Perf? I hope I didn't break any rules here by mentioning that??
I am pretty sure that when Mike Jr posted the video on Facebook there is a way that people can download the video . I think Bob from team buick likely saved the video and re posted it there. I will ask mike if he can add the video to his YouTube so that we can share it on here for everyone to see. If we are lucky we might even get access to the dyno videos! I actually have some super exciting news about the book it’s going to be a game changer!
You know Sean, what would be great, especially if you plan to publish an electronic version, would be some way to electronically add updates like addendums. For instance, I haven't mentioned it all that much but I have a 300 build in the works that will be using a 340 crank, NASCAR Carillo rods, forged pistons, most likely TA/Rover heads and an underslung Eaton M112 blower located in the lifter valley. I think it'd round out the 300 section rather nicely. Also I'm presently hard at work on the last stages of a GM '0411 controller retrofit to the SBB. I'll try to get you some photos of that if you want them. Jim
Jim I agree, it will be a soft cover book at first and then later it will become an on line ongoing resource that I can update. The book will be in chapters bookstores and amazon online and will cover 215, 300, 340, 400, 430 and 455 engines.
Of course the 350 will be covered, it was a typo. You know better than that. A good friend of mine has been successfully building 430 and 455s for 30 years so he is working with me too. I feel this will really increase the amount of interest in the book.
Oh definitely. BTW, my younger son bought a C3 'vette and is interested in swapping in a 455 Buick. Pretty much the same weight as the SBC and a bunch more cubes. Sounds like a fun project to me. Jim
