Its a new hemi design, the plugs go into those towers in the middle of the head underneath the valve covers now.
Your existing roller rockers will work on the aluminum heads. The only "issue" is we moved the exhaust valve over so we can stick a larger intake valve in the head, so the exhaust rockers aren't directly over the valve. It isn't ideal, but it isn't an issue either, they will run just fine. However, we have come up with a fix; we're going to make the exhaust pushrod holes larger in the head. By doing so, you will be able to stack a few shims and machine the spacer tubes to place the exhaust rockers over the valve tip. We're also calculating where to drill and tap holes in the head so if you wanted to run a Chevy style rocker, all you will have to do is mill the rocker towers off.
MikeJr,..just thinking aloud but you guys should pull some parts off the shelf and build a NASTY 350based shop engine and post its results and the recipe and I would venture to say the phone would ring with orders. A 600hp 500lb engine is a very potent weapon that would be very appealing to alot of guys
Mike, How many sets planned in 1st run? Have you had more than the two pair cast already, to start machining ? ..... Or are you still finishing the developing of the 2 setup heads?
I must say I'm impressed. I would like to see a TA build a well, after all they are the most knowledgeable. Not looking for a race gas only track build. I'm more looking for a pump gas friendly fully streetable beast that may see the track once a year, but earn a lot of respect!
I think a dyno comparison between stock heads (cleaned up with a good valve job, no porting, stock size valves), TA ported heads, and out of the box aluminum heads would be a great idea. 10:1 (pump gas friendly), decent cam that would have good idle quality and street manners, headers, TA HEI, etc. I think it'd be a great test that would really showcase what TA has to offer for the SBB crowd. And down the line... top end package maybe...? Heads, intake, cams, timing set... something to think about.
I cant wait for the aluminum heads to come out!!! I wanna take my old pickup truck to the next level.
We placed an order for the first production run (we were quoted 6-8 weeks). We'll start machining them once they get in.
Awesome. Are you just filling pre-orders right now, or will you have some in stock after they are all filled?
How many pairs were ordered in the 1st production run? "350 Street Eliminator Heads", The long wait is almost over.....
what year did the first Buick 350 hit the market? Are all the stock 350's the same? Do the 350's have the core shift problems the 455 has? This might cause me to take another look at the 350 I took from my 71' skylark. Only ran the engine 20 minutes after I bought the car. Pulled it out to be replaced by a 455. The engine has an Edlebrock Alum Intake. Anyone have any experience with the Edlebrock?
First year of the 350 was 68. Block does not have core shift issues. Stout block. Any year is good. Still could use oil modifications on 68-75 engine. There is no Edelbrock intake for Buick 350. Take another look. Distributer is in front on Buick
If it has a distributor in the front and an edelbrock intake, it isn't a 350. If rear, it's probably been defiled by a Chevy 350.
Sorry Guys, I opened my mouth before engaging my brain. I remembered the engine having an aluminum intake and a new 600 Holley, but that is as far as it goes it appears. I removed the engine, put it on the stand and shoved it against the back wall of the garage 9 yrs ago. I looked at it this morning and unfortunately for me the intake is a Poston, S/divider, B-350. Another thread I read on here today says this is junk. So, I apologize for not investigating this before getting on here. The Edlebrock Performer is on a 1970 455 BBB I have in an 86' Olds Cutlass. Does the 350 require similar oil modifications the 70' Standard 455 did?
