No need to wonder, Chris Skaling is a professional head porter and he is going to work his magic on My alum heads once I get them... He routinely makes huge gains with 455 heads both iron and alum. Another exciting thing to see will be Scotty Brown's 350 CNC porting program, he was telling me about it...
No we are getting the bare heads and Chris will decide on the valves and do the valve job so no we won't run them out of the box. I considered it but it's not worth the extra time, money and effort. I'm sure plenty of other people will run them out of the box...
This info may be old or not new to you folks, but I just called TA they say the weight savings for the heads is about 70 lbs. That plus a 30-40 pound lose for an aluminum intake will help me with the planned motor swap into a 62 Skylark
They were talking about a set of ported heads that the "roof was raised", not the new not yet released TA sbb 350 heads. I'm sure the first heads will work with the available parts before a "Stage 2" style sbb 350 head comes out with raised intake runners. There would have to be an intake released at the same time with that pipe dream sort of head for the sbb 350 as well if it ever happened.
I hope they sell so many of these that a Stage 2 style is a no-brainer and that these engines finally get some much deserved respect.
idk about you guys, but since these are pretty much the biggest leap in SBB performance parts since the first aluminum intake, I think it would be cool to have the production number/batch numbers etched into the heads, either by hand or machine. "Hey what heads you got?" "Number 24, you?" "6". Just a thought.
Easy enough during the CNC process. The program, depending on the software, can be set up to engrave sequential serial #'s, etc.
any news on release date on these? I didn't go back and reread the entire thread so maybe its in here somewhere, if so sorry. how about pricing, what are the price estimates for a set?
I know some pricing info was listed at some point but I don’t remember how much off the top of my head. They have the revised version of the heads now and just need to test it out before they go into production. It’s very close, but they haven’t given a date as they don’t know exactly.
