Ordered new hardware for my brakes on a 66 skylark. In taking it apart I saw the equalizer at the top of the wheel cylinder with 2 hooks on it instead of the typical single stud. Question ... do I use the new hardware for the stud setup or the same length springs as shown that were in there.(pinkish colored) There seems to be about an inch or so difference since I wouldnt be going to the center stud but the outlying hooks. I have never seen this setup before in all the BOPs Ive previously had. Thanks.

Perhaps you received the wrong spring kit. If you go to Rockauto.com there are pictures of the items that are included in each spring kit. It would be best to replace the parts with the same parts as original. What you got would probably work fine if the springs are shorter to compensate. That may be a revised design. Hopefully someone here will have more information.

I checked my 66 Buick shop manual before posting to assure I was giving correct information. What you have is what you are supposed to have according to the manual. So if you ordered a spring kit for a 66 Skylark they should be correct length. When you put it together if the springs seem to have less tension, seem to be too easy to install, maybe you have the wrong ones. If they fit with what you think is enough tension you are probably OK. Picture #2 looks like one I have laying in my shop, self adjuster on the rear etc. I put a pic of the one in the shop. Your pic is of the passenger side mine is the driver side.

That's good news for the OP. I forgot to mention that some one my have switched the set-up to the wrong parts. We see this quite often at the shop where I work.

Come to find out summit sent the wrong kit. The rears are part # 7008 and the fronts are supposed to be a 7007. I got a mopar spring kit for the fronts instead, they are sending out the correct kit. I looked at the photos from your car and rock autos site and see the equal length springs. Just that cantilever hooks or whatever it is threw me off along with different springs from the wrong kit...Hate putting puzzles together with the wrong pieces. Thanks for the info.
