I pulled my rear end, and want to box the control arms in, is there anyone that makes the metal bracing, that I can weld in,I thought I saw them some were??
Any thoughts on putting on aftermarket unit's, can you feel the differance, is it worth the money they are asking for these kits???? 1970 Skylark GS 455

OPGI makes the kits. There's a thread around here where I think someone said they were back ordered. I got a new set of repro control arms from Ground Up Restorations. They come ready to bolt in.

I just noticed you're in Kensington. Ground Up is 20 minutes from you in Meriden.

    OPGI was back ordered

I placed the order with them online in the morning Friday the 25th. On 28th I got an email of listing everything in stock and on back order. I called Ames Performance and Pontiac supplier and ordered them along with other GM A body crossover parts on the 29th. ( www.amesperf.com ) The stuff came Friday from them and I have yet to see any of the stuff from OPGI. They said it take 4 days to get the order picked from there warehouse. The customer service was great. I was going to add an item 3 hours after I called. The rep said the stuff was already boxed but would check to see if it had left yet. I waited on the phone for 10 minutes but he came back to say it had been picked up. They have them but they cost $30 (4 buck more) but its worth it.

    Good luck

We got them from hspartsnstuff.com Theyre a gbody site but the control arms are the same on both bodies. They might be cheaper there. You can definitely feel the difference, before we got them, we could only 60' in the 2.0 range with drag radials, now that we have them, we can get high 1.8's without trying too hard.

I bought my weld in kits from OPG about 2 weeks ago. They had them in stock then. They were easy to weld in and really make a difference in the control arm. Also if you plan to run a rear sway bar, boxed arms are a must.
If you decide to to go the weld in way, then be sure to get 4 ea 7/16" bolts and after you position the plate in the arm, slide the bolts through prior to welding. This will insure that you will be able to get the sway bolts through later when you are mounting it.
Just finished mounting mine and everthing went stellar
