    John ,
GREAT story, hope to see the car out next year, if only as a display item.
Do you have any pics when your Dad had the car?

Hi John, welcome to V8buick.com. I think this is a very cool story on its own that a son all these years later can bring such a famous buick back in his father's life. The smile he must have. Will you race it again? Chris

Yes I have pictures ready to post from they way it looked when it was raced new and how it looks today, will post ASAP.

The plan is to get it to run then hopefully cackelfest it.
My dad and I went to Bakersfield last year and hopefully will return with the car in '11,that's the plan.
Right now I'm gathering up as much info as I can on it and I really have to hand it to the Buick community for being so loyal to the marque.

    Stay tuned guys,more to come...:Comp:

Does it have the Hemi in it? Any idea where the 430 is?

I would love to see this car return to what it was.

Surely a buick mystery being solved.

Current owner has a 430 Buick & a TH400 in it,just like it would have when new.
Chromed Wildcat rearend is still in the car.
The owner also secured the original 8:71 chromed blower & fabricated intake dad made which is waay cool.Still need the timing cover redone.
Word is the original 4-bolt block is long gone.

    Will post up pics soon...:TU:

Thank you Joe,you Buick guys are very loyal and I dig that.
My dad worked at Mid-County Buick in NY (the owners son Steve Malise piloted the AA/GD's) and in the summer,I'd go to work with him and just play in the new cars...this musta been 1968-9 and I'd be there playing in GS Stage 1 cars and Opel GT's operating the headlights, lol.

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Buicks because of that, always.

One of the articles I'll post up is titled "Strictly Buick" and that was so true, even the tow rig was usually an Estate wagon or some other rather large Buick.

    Thanks again guys...:Brow:

I was at this race (I just turned 10 that month) and I remember it like it was yesterday. The Buick took out Doug Nash's Bronco Buster Bronco II in the 1st round but the trans went sount and lost on the 2nd.
Dyno Don & Mr Norm were both there...that day left a HUGE impressions on me!
