    msc66 still no vacuum

OK, so now I really feel like crap. I guess the cards were stacked against me on this one but I still wish things had been different. I was out of town working all week and came down with the flu. I got home about two hrs. before I wanted to leave. I re-packed my bags, changed the oil in the car, picked up the dually to tow the trailer only to find that all the trailer lights didn't work. I worked on it for an hour or so and now I was into ATL rush hour traffic time. I decided to wait until after dinner to leave. I went in and laid down as I was still feeling like crap and of course didn't wake up until 12 hrs later. Turns out I was still running a fever and ended up sleeping for most of the week end. While I feel like I did everything I could to make it I'm still very disappointed.

I know what you're saying however. At the Reynolds meet in November there were maybe 4 V8 buicks. I don't get it. The fall is great weather here. The N.E. guys have great turn outs for their events and its freezing up there. Aside from Bowling Green, Reynolds and Gainesville are the only other Buick (& OPC) meets in the south east. You'd think we could get at least a dozen V8 cars to show up. Do you think its because most of us down here can't read and therefore don't know about the events? I always thought that Buick guys had more education than the average chevy guy. ;)

Anyway, thanks to Fernando and staff and lets hope for a better V8 Buick turnout next year.

Jeff, you're right we had a poor showing for V-8's but you proved you were king of the non-tubbed cars though 10.0's & 10.1's. We were there but my car wasn't ready. I wanted to bring the T but the new trans has a very poor 1-2 shift that sends the turbo into overboost and has to be redone.

I have to say your white GS was my son's (he's 13) favorite car. (Mine too). My son would watch the staging lanes for when you would be up so he could see you run. I don't know you guys, so I did not know who to say hi to.

I want to build a full bodied V-8 barge that runs low 12's, hopefully I will have it ready for next year. I don't have a fast (low 12's or better) V-8 now.
The BBB motor (only have to decide on pistons) & trans is sitting in my garage I need to find the car.

Thanks for the kind words. Stop by the trailer sometime. It was just me and my son (he's 7). See you next time.

If those OPC guys think my car is fast, wait until somebody like Makley or Kubish shows up. They'll have a heart attack   .

See you "all" next year.

Now wait a minute Jeff (and Jim),

First, I know where you are coming from. But, I dont remember seeing either of you in Reynolds...or BG for that matter. So why do you want to bust on the rest of us guys who didnt go to Gainesville? :moonu:

Personally, I asked several times wether my car would "fit" anywhere at Fernando's race because I and 2 others from here wanted to go. I never got a straight answer, only directed to another website and didnt get a straight answer there either. I aint pulling 4 hours only to find out it dont fit. And diesel is $3.52 a gallon here. Thats a lotta coin to make 2 hits and load it.

Glad to hear it was a nice event though. Fernando is a cool guy. I have been to his events before.

make ya a deal, YOU attend a BPG event, and maybe you'll see me re-join the GSCA, and go back to BG & Reynolds.. :idea2: Reynolds was a MAJOR conflict this year as it was, gotta make some cha-ching...

    deal ?? :bla:

as for the SA class, Gonzo headed that up, and his website is extremely clear on HIS rules, pretty much wide open AND he has 3 classes... you would NOT have had a problem i'm sure.... I do KNOW the Fairlane towed through the snow from Indy, and he didn't bitch about fuel, and he ran his personal best as well... I do know the 4 Poncho cars that towed up from my neighborhood ALL ran their personal best 60's and 1/8's, 3 of the 4 ran their best 1/4's EVER, and 2 of those cars have been owned by the same owners and raced over 20 years... in fact, one of them won the Norwalk Poncho meet, so we're not talking unschooled little boys here.. one friends Poncho went 165 mph with a 1.13 60' on a shitty and broken linkage Dommy..

    Jim,

Whats this got to do with the BPG thing? You and Jeff acted pissed that no other V8 Buicks showed. Well, neither of you were at BG or Reynolds, so its like you were calling the kettle black or something. You dig? Just calling it like a see it friend.

Aint gonna happen till they make some major changes, which I hear may be happening real soon.:beers2:

I went to Gonzo's website, and they werent clear. The flyer was misleading, so was the website. Was it FAST for G'ville? Was it SA? A combo of both? No big deal, but I didnt want to tow 4 hours each way minimum at $3.52 per for 2 hits reguardless wether the Fairlane towed thru snow, uphill, both ways. :bla:

Besides, if I want to run a personal best, I will stay local. Gainsville has never been good to me. Been kicked outta there more times than I can remember. In fact, I think I remember you getting kicked outta there years ago (I could be wrong). Jackson smokes G'ville anyway. Send your Poncho buddies up here for some real action next time. But that 165 best be in the eighth. :moonu: :beer

I'm sure it was a cool meet though. Fernando always does a good job and knows how to run an event.

wanna trade diesel bill's ?? :dollar: :bla:

actually, there was NO F.A.S.T. participation, he ran a SA class and a seperate factory musclecar class... his rules were VERY clear to me.. I actually think he's really on to something with his program, and next year will prove it, I hope anyways.. especially since the NMCA recent demise.. you would NOT have had a problem..

besides, i've never seen a kettle that wasn't black, so I musta called it dead on with a zero..

praise heaven that Fuzzy isn't there anymore, we didn't get along AT ALL   in his defense, it was my fault I forgot my sidebars at home one year, it was also my fault I intentionally went 11.99 @ 132 to piss him off, he didn't appreciate that episode one bit... :) he gave me 5 minutes to get out, I think it actually took 10 minutes to pack up with the Deputy standing there laughing, THAT pissed Fuzzy off even more that the cop thought it was funny that I was asked to leave, for racing at a racetrack...

besides, 1/8 mile racing is for guys that can't make a car last 1/4 mile, or a track that can't afford the BASIC insurance... :spank: :error:

    Mr. Rodgers:

I race when I can. I understand that not everybody can make every race. I hear guys say they won't tow to BG (which I have done) or Columbus (maybe this year for me?) because it's too far. Well, maybe Florida is closer? There has to be more than 2 GS's that could be there. I'm just trying to drum up some interest for next year. It's a good track with a couple of great guys promoting a cool event. And you have to admit, the weather was a little better than up north. See you next year?

    Have fun.

BTW - I didn't fit in any class. I made 4 hits. Could have made more.

Bingo! That was my point. But nobody likes to have their ass spanked for not showing up.

I know of 3 V8's and 1 GN from near me that all planned to go until it fell thru at the last minute.

If it were a FULL 2 day event it would be easier to get guys to show. I plan to be there next year, with 2 or three more in tow. Will you be in BG this year? Would like to see you and your car again.
