    Fernando,

I see you are having a "Stock Appearing" class. Will this be "stock appearing" or FAST? If FAST, how close are you going to adhere to the FAST rules?

Jim, it is a stock appearing not a FAST class. We have no affiliation with the "FAST" class group. For better understanding of the rules please see stockappearingdrags.com Bill Gannon is who has coordinated this portion of our event and moderates the above site can expalin it better. Hope this answeres your question.

Fernando, what's the hotel situation like. I won't know if I'll be coming Friday night or Sat morning until the last minute. If I have to book a room as late as Friday will I be able to get something close and safe for my car? Also, what hotels are close besides the host hotel?

Guys I live here in G'ville (not far from the track) and would be happy to help with arrangements and securing hotels that are close if they are available. You can also get cheapo hotels in Waldo which is only 7-8 miles from the track on a four lane highway.

Also have access to a lift and welding equipment if necessary.

Jim you have to stay out side the gates but it is still in the property. Sorry we don't have a security gaurd over night. As per closer hotels near the track I'm not sure off. If anyone comes in on friday they can leave their cars inside the track.

    Thanks guys,

I'm in Mobile AL working all this week and I'll be traveling back fri morning then loading up the car and heading back out I guess. I don't think I'll be there in time for test and tune fri so I guess I'll book a hotel for fri night and get to the track early Sat morning.

Gonna be kinda stressful friday but I think it'll be worth it.

I'm bringing the family up to Gainesville with me Friday afternoon so we can watch some racing and check out the show. I am really looking forward to seeing the Stock Appearing Drags!!

Is this a large event with a bunch of cars? What should I expect?

Last weekend we were at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona. Then Gainesville this Friday & Saturday, then back to Fort Myers for a BIG car show on Sunday.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to another weekend of car events.

    Great family fun!!

Thanks Fernando, for putting on a great event. I had a good time, and the track was great, as usual.

The only bad news was ... I HAD THE ONLY V-8 BUICK RACING!! COME ON GUYS ... WHERE WAS EVERYBODY??????? The only other '70 - '72 GS on the property was Jim Haas' Big Red, and that was in the car show (beautiful car, Jim!). I guess the good news is that it looks like my GS was faster than all of the stock suspension Olds, and most, if not all, stock suspension Pontiacs! I didn't see every car, so I may be wrong.

Have fun. See you all next year. Anybody coming????

    Hey Jeff,

I had heard about it after making plans to go to the Turkey Rod Run, and I could not do both.

I am restoring my car right now ('67 Skylark convertible). How was the parts corral? My niece teaches at UF, so I am hoping to make a weekend of it next year.

    Thanks,
    Joe M.

    I have to vent here...

I am VERY unhappy about something

This has the makings to be a GREAT event at a GREAT NHRA track, the weather was unbelievably postcard PERFECT

Fernando, and Pete, and their respective wives, and kids, and family's, REALLY busted their ass ALL YEAR LONG to pull this off, and only 2 GS's in the entire Fla, GA, SC, NC, AL, MS area can show up ??? they ALL ran around like chickens to make sure everyone was happy, to say they were overstaffed was an understatement, they had people EVERYWHERE, in duplicate or triplicate, to make sure things were smooth and easy for EVERYBODY. The admission fee's were dirt cheap, the track personnel were as friendly and outgoing as can be (this in itself was refreshing),

    free giveaway's everywhere you looked

things absolutely couldn't have been more perfect

not one person whined to me about the cost of fuel, or hotels

and virtually NO Buick people showed up...

I mean like WTF here people ????????????

there were a LOT a neat Pontiac's and Olds, a few Caddy's, a dozen or so late model LSX GTO's and 'Birds, couple dozen fast turbo Buick's, several Hurst Olds including a nice '69 that was racing, a couple beautiful Nova's, a couple NICE Chevelle's... an original 427 Fairlane in SA with ORIGINAL paint from Indiana, Road Runnner's, GTX's, Catalina's, yada yada yada yada.. ad nauseum...

even covered parking for the car show car's...

even Bill Gonzo came all the way from NJ with his crew to try and organize a Stock Appearing class

all of this to offer and only 2 GS cars and one older Riviera can show up from a 6 state radius???

they sprayed the track at least twice.... attended ambulance's on duty, fire trucks, track staff at mid track, and end track, and runoff area's...

I had 3 or 4 O-P people approach me and ask me where all the big mouth Buick guys are that always run their mouths, and then not show up and either show, OR even run, their cars?? I honestly didn't have an answer....

how pathetic is that..... :spank: :blast:

I really felt bad for the staff, as they REALLY worked their asses off for YOU BUICK PEOPLE to have a damn nice place to play....

Jim- I have to TOTALLY agree with your comments. Some of us don't have our cars done, but there are alot of cars done that aren't far from Gainesville. It was good to visit with you,as it has been years and good to see the red car back out.Feranado and Pete do their best to make everyone happy and as you said;you couldn't have ask for a better day or track. I am sorry I missed such a great event ..my buddies bailed on me and I tried to get someone to convoy up with me from Orlando by asking here on V8. My car is brand new / put together so I didnt want to risk breaking down with no "chase" car ...I will be there for sure next year though. How many cars total showed up ? Thanks, John
