Does anyone have any go-to body shops in the new england area? Doing internet searches only finds me the body shops that are $110 plus dollars an hour for labor and have quoted me north of 20,000$ for a paint job for my 70 skylark. I'd like to find a place that does quality work and doesn't charge big shop prices.

I understand painting a car is expensive, but I've also heard there are still old school guys out there who will take their time and charge half of what the big shops charge.

Cheap and quality do not go together. The guy who did my concourse GSX paint last I checked was around $85 per hour. He actually had a punch time card machine. He is in Exeter NH right near NE Dragway. He is always busy. I can call him if you want and see what his time frame is. Paint Works in Portsmouth NH is also good. Sean is his name. He was on this site.

I guess 85 isn't unreasonable. I'm in CT so new portsmouth is a bit of a haul but might be worth it. I'll poke around but may end up taking you up on that offer. thanks for the info

Call FSA Restorations in Franklin Mass.

They did my 442 and I was very pleased.

Greg’s restorations in Rutland mass is top notch. Very high quality work. And countryside auto in north Brookfield also is top notch. Both have excellent painters. You wouldn’t go wrong with either.

Anyone care to reveal a ballpark price they paid for their paint job?
Trying to gauge for my car's future spray...

It depends if there is extensive body work and rust/metal work for sure. If the car was primered and ready to go that would be cheaper. I painted mine with summit single stage in my garage for under 500. But I would guess a decent paint job is anywhere from 4-15k depending on what you want done.

My car has all bodywork done, and is in DP90 epoxy primer/sealer. Taken apart (front clip off, all trim off).

So it just needs to be be scuffed and sprayed,..I would charge $2500 plus material or $3500 plus material if you want it buffed or $4500 plus material if you wanted it blocked sanded and buffed,..to give you an idea what to expect
