Hi, I just ordered energy suspension body bushings for my 70 GS. I ordered a kit for a chevelle knowing I had to buy 2 more bushing so for the buick per what I have read. I was thinking all the body bushings would be the same but they are not. Which additional bushings do I need? Also, I see 14 bushings under my Buick. 2 radiator or core support and 12 body bushings. That is what this kit has too. So maybe I misread that I need two additional bushings and I don'the need to buy anything. Thanks.
I purchased the Olds covertible body bushing kit from Fusik Olds (u get the extra two). The two bushings for the rad cradle came from Cars.
I bought bushings from Ground Up and as I recall the extra bushings are for the under the cowl area. The Chevelle's did not come with the second set for this area. The extra set are the same type as the single per side on the Chevelle's. Attached is a picture of a Chevelle frame bushings. Note that the one of two bushings below the cowl is identified as convertible only. The Fusick convertible bushings as mentioned above should do the trick. The diagram is just to help explain further... I found I had to reuse the bushings that look like a hockey puck with no screw mount that fit over the rear frame area ahead of the trunk. These are the ones with no bolt feature. maybe the kits these days come with correct bushings. Good Luck!
A few years back I was wondering what/which bushings I’d use on my 70 GS. I recall that I came across a thread or two on this forum about the subject. It mentioned the extra bushings. As I remember it also went into some depth explaining how Buicks were different from the others. Someone had done some research and had figured out which bushings you needed in each area. I think they were all available from CARs inc (old buick parts.com). You might want to do a search on here and see if you can find it. I’ll try to look later also. Mark
What kit did you buy? the hardtop or convertible kit? As Ken said, the GS and convertibles used 4 mounts at the cowl (2 per side). Bushing kits usually include generic bushings, meaning each one looks the same, and fits in any of the 14 locations. However Buick used 5 different size bushings on one car..... mostly just a diameter difference. I start with a generic kit, then buy the individual Buick-specific mounts from Cars.
