I was one of the first to receive and look at these, I think. Communication was excellent, the part was packed well, and arrived quickly. I also wanted to say a few things about the nut in general. I had a very good original on my car when I bought it. It had very minor pitting, just short of high level show. I had read on here how people had them plated, and lost the point on the top. I begged my potmetal guy to be careful about that. 'Course, when I got it back...it was better than many, looked great, but still lost a little. Fast forward to Bob's repro, it is a killer piece, REALLY nice!!! It's like the explanation point on your engine. I highly recommend it. One side note, I believe these nuts originally had a retainer to keep them on the air cleaner. I remember seeing a pic, I think in my 67 Assembly manual (Duanes version that's like 3" thick) showing this. Also in the parts manual right after the nut, it says retainer with a part #. The knobs have like a notch on the stem if you look at yours or pics. I think the retainer was maybe like a round or square pushnut deal. My worst nightmare is dropping the nut on concrete or asphalt! Personally, I use a rubber washer on the stem at the top. Anybody know, heard of this before? All in all, it's a very nice piece and highly recommended. Great job Bob, thanks for your time and effort. How about some TL bezels? lol
