455, ta aluminum heads, orange crush headgasket. Noticed the drain back hole in the head is about half covered at the bottom by the head gasket. All 4 corners are the same. Never noticed that before. Normal, not normal ? Thanks, Brad.

Got caught up on this for a minute on mine too. Cometic/MLS gasket for me....

The underside of the head casting is recessed. There may be a table spoon of oil capacity in that void before it drains back over the gasket. Deemed normal in my findings.

I saw it when I installed the heads and while I wasn't too worried about it I just poked a large screwdiver in the area to bend it out of the way. EZ

Just thought it strange that I never noticed it before. All the head gaskets I've put on and never noticed.
