Black Top With White Interior?

I'm getting close to putting the new top on my '71 GS. It's Stratomist blue with white interior and had a white factory top. I'm toying with the idea of a black top, but was wondering if black tops were a factory option with white interiors. I'm also interested in opinions as to how a black top would look with that interior and body color, because every picture I've seen of a convertible with that particular combination had a white top.

I have been agonizing over the same issue. I was able to buy a white set of front & rear seat covers for cheap but my panels and top are black. Here's my take on it... I think that a white top and interior combo are preferable but not a must. A black top is very practical as far as not showing the dirt so badly, plus a black & white combo top & interior could look pretty sharp.

You might ask some 'Vert owners who have mixed color combo's to post some pics!

And just for the record, my top and interior are both black. The white seat covers are still in the box.

A Stratomist Blue car with a white interior could be ordered with a black top originally. Buick had no requirement that the top and interior colors match.

There must be a car out there with white interior and black top. Maybe I'll end up flipping a coin.

One thing to remember here, white top cars sell. That's just the way it is, so if you think you might possibly sell the car it the future put a white top on it. Especially if it came originally with one.

Personally I think a Stratomist blue conv with a white top & white interior is stunning, I would never consider changing it.

White tops are great.............as long as you never put them down, hard to keep clean and once wrinkled forget it. Black tops will be wrinkle free after a half an hour in the sun. If you use it go black with a white boot. IMO

I take it you've never had a black top car before in the SUMMER in a light drizzle or in the rain. Stick with WHITE! Or enjoy the mobile SAUNA!!!

I'm with Covington on this one. I had a black convertible top on my '64 Impala and practically baked my brains out. Well, maybe I really...anyway, I went to a white top when it had to be replaced. Looked really sharp with the Goldwood yellow. I did NOT have AC. That car came from the factory as a convertible with the special high performance 327, tach, close-ratio four speed, 3.90 posi, AM radio and a rear seat speaker. No power anything, except the engine. I wish it had had an 11 inch clutch, because a boat that size with that engine and a 2.20 first gear just smoked the clutch on a hard launch.

Mines an original Strato blue, white top black interior and thats the way its staying. Cooler with the top up, and an interior thats easier to keep clean being black. Just don't leave the top down for extended time to avoid wrinkles.

Blue is a personal favorite on the 70-72 cars. It suits the body style quite well.

And here is ANOTHER option: A blue top! I used Electron Top for my triple green 71, and was extremely pleased. Personally I think the light blue (OE13) would look better than the dark blue (OE11) with the diplomat blue and white interior. I didn'i even look to verify that either was available for YOUR car, just saw the material available, and recall the quality of my top, and it was recommended by the local top shop.
You definitel will stand out in the sea of black and white tops. OK, the small pond of tops, unless you are at a national level show.

Thanks for the pix, Curtis. But seeing that beautiful green '70 makes me want to repaint my blue car that color!

Hmmm, hadn't thought about blue. I wish I could see one in person, because photos can be deceptive.
