From my understanding GM quit putting body color on firewalls in the early 60's... Currently working on a 1966 GS Skylark that is all orig with orig color yet it appears the firewall was the body color?? Only done one other buick 72 Skylark for my daughter so still new to the buick world so not yet use to possible nuances. Never seen a chevelle done this way, normally body color is only under the trunk lid, engine compartment is all black. Thoughts?

That's what I'm thinking too. Is the trunk body color?
I have very little info on Canadian built cars tho. But have seen a few painted as you mentioned.

Thats the confusing part, this is a CA black plate car.. Only been registered in CA and WA state. The underside of the trunk lid is the body color.

The underside of the trunk lid should be the same color as the top side!
Is the trunk painted with the grey speckled paint, or is it body color?
The body tag or vin will have a code to ID where it was built.
If it is a very early build date, it might have a few oddities that were sorted out later when regular production ramped up.
Can you post a pic of the cowl tag?

Deck lid was painted body color (underside) typical, I did not know you were asking about the trunk floor, I was thinking you were referencing the deck lid.
    Trunk was speckled

I guess it really does not matter it appears that the firewall will go black as that is what is considered orig. Just odd to me that it was painted the body color. Buick is a obviously different then Chevelles, I have restored a half a dozen from 66-69 and only saw GM use black firewalls after 63. I was thinking possibly buick was different.
