I've ran bilstein on my toyotas and they are awesome. Was trying to get reviews of them on some musclecars

I actually seen the eBay one. Forgot to use that link.
Just making sure 8 get my money worth from the shocks.

I've been running them on my ragtop for a few years now - definite improvement over KYB, even more over typical retail brands (Monroe, Gabriel, etc).

They can be a bit harsh over rough roads but the handling improvements over good roads is worthwhile.

Been running the ones I posted or another set? (Not sure if there are more than one for a skylark)

I put yellow Bilstein shocks on my 1970 GS455 4 years ago and could not be happier. I remember noting that the car had never ridden or handled better after the first drive with them on. Did lots of reading on the various A-body forums and the general consensus at the time was the KYBs and Edelbrocks started out firm but did not last. The KYBs have always had a reputation for being a good buy and I had mine on for about 10 years and 20K+ miles but I thought it was time to make a change and was glad to have done so. At the time the difference was about $15 per shock and for something you'll keep for a LONG time I say buy once, cry once!

Do you happen to know the part number for them?

    Thanks

I run them on both of my '65s and they'll last the life of the car. They have very good road manners.

Hi, all - Ive had the black Bilsteins up front on my 65 Skylark for awhile, and just got them for the rear. I love the handling, its tremendous. Ive used them on all the cars Ive ever owned.

Problem is, they bottom pretty hard on bumps you think wouldnt do that. My mechanic said theyre too short. They replaced KYBs, which I did not like, and were longer, and did not bottom. Now, Im running heavy-duty springs in the rear, could that have anything to do with it?

Oh, did I mention the car sits perfect on the Bilsteins?

When theres no significant bumps, the car rides like a dream. Just seems like somethings amiss. Any insight appreciated.

p.s. Got the blacks for the color, didnt know there was a difference, yellow vs. black, if there is a difference.

Are you sure the shocks are physically bottoming out or is it that they can't keep up with your presumably high spring rate of the HD springs and that you're actually hitting the bump stops? Shocks do not have anything to do with the static ride height of a vehicle unless they're air shocks.

I installed the yellow/blue Bilstein's on my rear of GS last summer and I'm very happy with them. My old KYB gas-a-just's were absolutely toasted. The PS shock would compress with 1 finger all the way collapsed with zero rebound. :Dou:

I have Bilsteins on all four corners and I really like the way the car rides and handles. I plan to put them on my next project, too. I run 1 1/4" front bar with urethane bushings and end links, 7/8" rear bar, 15" wheels with Yokohama tires and its fun to drive. A really good front end alignment makes a huge difference, too.
I doubt you bottomed out the shock unless something else is going on with your suspension.

I wouldn't bother with that PST Billsteins. Just go to summit and let them sell you a set of real billsteins b6. I am using a-body shocks in my Riviera on all 4 corners and i have to say that changing from Gabriels was like "hey this was big Buick and now its big European gti...".
On a side note, i payed 288$ for a set at Summit.

    Peace,

My 2500 454 suburban came from the factory with the yellow ones. It's a 98 with 150k on them. Just had the gas tank out for a line leak, I figured well gell I will never have more room to help if these thing fight so I went to replace them with advanced auto gas magnums. After pulling one and comparing it to the new, it had a firmer compression and quicker rebound than the new did and when I actually tried to pull the round it got firmer than the new........I put the old blis, back on and returned the new ones.

Our motor home has them too, a little harsh up front for my liking but it as big as round as a softball....I think it's just too much shock for that chassis

On my 72 stage1 drag car we run koni. Shocks most of the time are worth the extra money.

I've had these shocks on my 72GS for 4 years and they perform flawlessly. I added new Springs at the same time since I was doing the shocks anyway. Couldn't be happier. With the stiff front and rear sway bars, the car handles curves like a modern vehicle as opposed to the 45 year old man it really is! Do it, you won't be disappointed. As far as bumps, I've found no issues. My car stays planted in all conditions.

I have a Bilstein set in the front, and my handling has been great ever since.

I have them on all 4 corners of my 1971 Skylark convertible and I like them a lot. They are very firm but the ride and handling is excellent. I found the best price for the yellow HD's from Tire rack, about $66 each if I remember correctly.
