Here's a multi-parted question I was hoping someone could answer for me.

I was planning on porting the 430 heads of my '68 Riviera and using them on a new 455 engine. My plans changed when TA offered ther BPG sale and I picked up a set of stage two heads for a great price:grin: .

I was always under the impression that the 430 heads I had were "big port" heads.

However, I checked the Atlanta buick site for casting number info (1384720 and 1382091), and according to them one is a big port, one is not. Both are '68 430 heads.

Jim Burek had a post recently that said there would be a measurable difference between the divider on the intake ports. Both of my heads measure out with a .260" thick divider between the ports, and height is the same on both.

Does anyone know if I have big port heads or not. According to the casting numbers and the Atlanta site, 1 is and 1 is not. however, this seems impossible, as according to Mr. Burek, their would be a measurable difference in ports size (which there is not!)

That's the first part of the question,

Secondly, what are these castings worth? Both have 1100 miles on since rebuild, both have been magnafluxed (no cracks detected), both were hot tanked and are in great condition. What do people pay for these heads these days?

    Thanks for the help,
    Brett Schmahl
