Please chime in i’m putting my 70 Gs back together the front windshield and the rear glass has quite a bit of scratching I think it’s best to replace it due to the fact it’s not easy to change it in the future if I decide to Please recommend if you can best place to buy quality glass at a fair price

I can't say how good it fits, because I haven't installed it yet, but I just received my correctly tinted windshield for my 67 Toro from Classic Industries. I happened to
get it on sale. $400.00 shipped. Their packaging was amazing, of course the $165.00 of that was shipping which is a bit hard to swallow, but I am sure some of my customers feel the same way when I quote them prices.:D

    God Bless

16 years ago, I had the local glass company do my windshield. Also had them come to the house and RR the rear with a used rear glass I bought from a board member. He shipped it to me via Greyhound. Posted the receipts here http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/windshield.64732/#post-493286

Wow. Can't believe it has been a decade and a half ago.

If you just want a windshield that isn't date coded then you can buy one from any windshield place like safelight. They will even install it for you. They will use butyl tape if you ask. I got a quote a few yrs ago for $150.

Ditto. I called a local windshield place, they came to my house and installed it for $150. Looks just like original with antenna embedded, tint, etc.

If you're looking for date coded, then Auto City is the place to go. Generally, they are really fast, too. My last 2 orders of date coded glass were at my door in a week. Bummer they're backed up so bad right now. Gardner Exhaust is the same - 5 weeks out. My chrome shop was 12 weeks out when I sent them stuff in March. The Parts Place said their business has tripled since covid hit. I guess everyone is at home working on their cars?

That is great....however have you examined your glass....really, really looked it over? Quality Glass is Quality....the rest is junk. Not saying yours is junk....just saying that most all the repop glass is made in South America. It is poorly made, it is thinner glass....and the worst is that annoying haze. Like the new cars have. Nothing worse than having a Beautiful Restored Car with nice new chrome, trim and paint....and then the poor quality glass sticks out like a sore thumb!
I see this all the time. When you go to a large indoor car show....such as MCACN. Look at all the cars that are parked front to back in the same direction side by side....just walk down the aisle and starting counting at how many restored cars have poor glass....HAZY Glass.

Boy, Auto City Classics, which is local to me, and I have done a ton of business with, must be selling some different GS windshields these days.. back when I was in the resto business, the offerings there for the GS were hideous.. thin chinese glass with a really stupid looking sun shade..

I used to buy the general non etched glass from PPG, picked it up locally... windshields were so cheap, I bought ten of them.. the shaded antenna shield was like $59, and really a nice piece. And this was not eons ago, I am talking the late 2000's here.

For the serious date code etched restos, Plinkington Glass was the only place to go.. They are now part of PPG I guess.. I worked with those guys out in PA to actually build us the correct rear windshield, the chevy glass everyone was selling for a GS was not correct at all. Wrong curvature..

I talked to ACC today and they are about 2 weeks out on date coded glass.

The windshield I installed on the convertible here does seem a little bit thinner, but there aren’t many options for correct LOF date coded glass. I don’t see any issues with the way it looks once installed

I bought a set for the '49 Roadmaster. Miked the original side glass and the new; the new was 0.01" thinner. Haven't installed yet but didn't think that'd be significant. The windshields were from a third party supplier and were same.

Just got a windshield for a 57 Dodge pickup from ACC, very pleased with it. I called and then picked it up two hours later. I did not need specific etching though. Under $200 for thick, curved glass.
