Bench or Buckets?

65WILDKAT A PROUD FATHER OF THREE!

I have been playing around with the idea of putting a set of buckets in my 65 Kat and now I am wondering if I should go thru with it because of what I found.......My Buckets are NOT power seats. My bench seat IS I found this out when I removed the kick panel on the driver's side! . I guess someone replaced the kick panel before I had it and was to lazy to drill a new hole and place it in the panel :error: . Now my bench seat is in need of some serious repairing, but it has the arm rest built into the back of the seat ((which I like), It kinda makes you feel that you have buckets when the arm is pulled down. So I am not sure what I should do. Can any one give me some pros and cons to this? I know that it is a matter of choice but I was willing to see if there is a "PRO" or a "CON for replacing them. I am not building a show car. Also I am replacing my carpet too.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Don

    My opinion...

    Hi Don -

Although my experience has been with mostly with 1970-1972 models (and a '68 conv with buckets thrown in), I find the notchback bench seat (with armrest) to be the most comfortable for cruising.

I'd keep the power bench seat.

What costs/time are associated with re-covering the seat as opposed to installing manual buckets?

    Thats what.....

Thats what I have to look into next....Seeing what the cost will be to have my front seat redone, the springs are showing thru in one spot on the upright part of the seat where my back rests, on the drivers side it looks like someone really abused the seat when they were getting in and out of the car and it wore it down by rubbing up against it when they got in and out of the car over the years.

    Don -

Contact Duane Heckman (Duane on this board) and ask him about your interior. He'll definitely lead you in the right direction.
