Hi, I'm wondering how much freeplay is normal on a timing belt drive. My little brother has a 455 in a 70 Skylark, and he sent me a video showing about 3/8" play on the coast side of the timing belt, with tension on the other side. It doesn't have a tensioner, which is the only kind I have any experience with. We're not sure of the brand, as it was on the car when he got it, and it supposedly has only 100 or so 1/4 mile passes on it. Just wondering what spec or "normal" is. Thanks for your time!

Weather it's a belt or a chain and you can rock the Crank back and forth 1/2" and not see a valve move open or closed more ,then that's too much slack in my book!
