It looks like the auction ended in a sale at $205k, reserve was lowered.....I think the seller made out really really well at $150k profit......
To me I'm not ever going to own a car that I can't go out and drive and enjoy, if I want to do is look at them, the make TV for that. Would love to one be able to afford to buy dad a turbo car, he has loved them for the beginning
$206k! Jeeze... I used to have a T-Type not too long ago and I followed the values at the time. I know they are a pair of mint "zero" mile cars but $206k? Have the values gone up that much? Good for the seller I guess.
These two have a lot more going for them than the typical "barn find" low mileage cars. Fame, for one, as they were posted all over the internet and many different magazines ran articles on them. So buyers want these two and these two specifically.
Seems like a lot of money and trouble to keep, protect, show, and explain that these are ‘more special because....’ versus having one super nice show car and one to drive (or just a nice one to drive, race, and show). Likewise, if I ever buy a GNX it’ll be one with some miles and a flaw or two, so I can drive it. Different strokes I guess. Patrick
I agree 100%....I was just trying to give the main reason these were "worth" so much more than a typical pair. I wouldn't want them, either, unless I was rich and had another one to drive. I couldn't stand having something I just look at.
Thanks for posting that. It’s cool to see national attention. The comments are hilarious though. “There aren’t too many of them left... the six cylinder couldn’t handle the turbo.” Lol!!
I love it! It makes them all worth more. At 206K that is almost a $1 for every mile on my car. I'm at 209,000. I believe Shawn paid 50K each though? Still made out like a bandit. Hagerty valued each car at 52K.
You could get a very nice driver GN for $25k, AND then buy a new ZR1 vette with warranty for $120k and have fun with the GN , but be able to blow the doors off it with the ZR1. With $50k left over!
