Having a few issues with my newly restored 71' Skylark. I think the excess heat coming off the engine is boiling the gas in my holley 750 dbl pumper and I also think it is trying to vapor lock while moving. Last Friday evening enroute to Friday Night Thunder at Somerset, Ky my engine just shut down. I wasn't traveling very fast, had just passed thru a stop light. Not quiet familiar with the 700R4 set up on a factory floor shifter (used a kit from ShiftWorks of Las Vegas) i attempted to move the lever to neutral, pumped the gas pedal several times and hit the key. The engine started and immediately squalled the tires in reverse. I quickly shifted to drive. Being a bit naive about the new wiring harness that was installed with the complete build i just assumed i had a safety switch in place, Wrong!!! How do I set up a safety switch so this doesn't happen again? I've witnessed a car at Somernites Cruise strike several others after being started from outside the car. Some very unhappy people let me tell you. I have a chrome street rod steering column with out ignition. It is for a GM set up.
