Hey guys. At first; sorry for my english ;o) Now after 35 years abstinence, i did it again. I bought this wonderful 1967 Buick Le Sabre 400 2D HT Coupé. This car is in an excellent condition. The report gives him a 2+ Its cruising-time in Hamburg, Germany!
Your english is 7 times better than my German... Lovely car, I also love the lines.. Welcome, from your neighbor from the north.. Denmark
Welcome from Montreal. ( My mom is from Hamburg) Hummel Hummel I have a cousin, a 1968 Wildcat. Love these cars!
@all, thanks a lot! Its much fun to drive this car! And the sparepart-situation is not such a big problem than 35 years ago. But; someone changed the original carburator against a edelbrock 600cfm. This thing makes crazy noises like whistle and only at one position of the accelerator. I changed the air filter but the problem has remained... Any idea?
When you say it whistles, do you mean it has a vacuum leak? do you hear the whistle from under the hood while driving or at idle with the hood open?
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Remove the air filter housing and start by checking all the rubber hoses leading from the carb and see if something is disconnected or torn. Does the engine have a rough idle?
Hey Gary; yes at the lowest engine speed its a little bit rough. But not dramatic. I heard also about the the thing called vacuum leak. Someone told me to use wd-40 or something like that spray and spray very carefully at every positions where the carburetor has got a whole for hoses or things like that. If the idle goes up, than you found the leak.
Hey Gary. I just talked to the guy who sold me the car. He bought the car before 7 years. It whistled since the first day... I will have at first to check the gaskets between carb and the manifold.
