General consensus is that its best improvement is reduced weight. It doesn’t hurt anything, though. Patrick
It's a fine Intake as long as you not looking for much for then 400 to 415 hp out of the motor. With 455 cid power will be taking a hard nose dive once 5400 rpm shows up on the Tack!
95% of street bound BBB's never need to see more than 5500 anyway. As the cam if sized appropriately for a street car is done, and with stock rods keeping it on this side of 6k is in your best interest for the most part. LOTS of combos make well over 500hp with a B4b, once you start getting over 525 it starts to hold the engine back imo
I had one ported and equalized by Greg Tomlinson years ago before there were other options like Wildcat and TA single plane intakes. Pulled strong to 6000. (10.60 car) Loved a 4 hole spacer as well. Put a Wildcat(now SPX) on and went no quicker. Lost 60ft and gained a little on top end.
My port matched (only) B4B works very well on my 531 dyno-proven horsepower @ 5600 RPM Tri-Shield Performance-built 482 BBB.... Which pretty much supports Hugger's "LOTS of combos..." comment. Now, could you do the same thing with a cast iron Buick intake? Probably, but I suspect that the porting work necessary to support that power level would cost more than a new TSP-port-matched B4B manifold.
I drive the car on the street. Just trying to get a little quicker throttle response. Thank all of you for the replies. Frank
The b4b as the only upgrade on a 455 probably not gain much. Combine it with a **** load of upgrades, It will be great for street.
