Any locals planning to take in this show? Seems Marcel E. will be there, and Joe H. plans to go. I'll take a day off from work to attend, but I need to know which day works best with your schedule : Saturday or Sunday. My preference would be Sunday, although I'll miss seeing one of my favourite celebrities: Brother Jake of radio station Rock 101.
Once again, I'll try to see how the weather pans out for driving the GS to the show. I recently insured it to install the MT headers, install a shift kit in the Turbo 400, and exchange all the fluids.
So, anyone plan on being there, please respond to this thread. It will be nice to meet and talk of the latest.
Oh, Cole M. did you buy a '71 GS?

    Take care all,

    Nando.

    Hi Marcel,

How about the following NOS, GM only, items for my 1971 GS 455:

Stage 1 oil pump spring #1233892
    Positive and negative battery cables
    T3 headlights, 2 lows and 2 highs
    Driver's side headlight bezel
Right side 1/4 panel extension housing moulding #8702566
Left side 1/4 panel extension housing moulding #8702567
Maybe complete Stage 1 iron heads (and 1000 cfm Thermoquad, later on)
    BB fan shroud
    Buick 8-track player

Please call me, prior to coming to the show, if you have these parts.

    Thanks,

    Nando.

    Nando,
Are you bringing the GS? I would still like to look at it and get some measurements. If you want to, drop in on Sunday, But I think I'll drive myself. I'll have lots to bring back.

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

Yes, my plan is to drive my GS to the show. This weather is unpredictable, and I don't want to get caught in a rainstorm with the Drag Radials out back, so I hope it'll be dry out. I'll call you today, and I want to pop over to Harvey's in Maple Ridge during the day.

    Talk later,

    Nando.

    Hi Ross,

Will miss seeing you this time around. You're driving a 1967 Skylark with small V-8?

    Nando.

It was a stunningly beautiful and warm day on April 26th, the last day of the Tradex B.C. C&C Car Show. Unlike, the previous show in March, when some outlying areas of Vancouver had light snowfall in the early morning, this day brought out all the rods, musclecars, and bikes. The show was well attended, and there were plenty of nostalgic iron sitting in the parking lot.
As planned, I drove out to Maple Ridge in my '71 GS 455, to pick up Joe H. ( Joe's GSX ), and his son Everett, so we could head to the show, together.
Before going out to the Tradex, we dropped in to visit with Harvey ( GS-XNR). He showed us around his family spread, and we spoke eagerly about his latest ongoing project: his '67 GS 400 Convertible.
Once at the show, we made our way to Marcel E.'s ( All GS ) trade booth. Seems Marcel is hoping to acquire a low mileage 1972 GS Stage 1, fairly soon. He may have to part with one of his other cars... will it be the Cobra?
Cole M. also came down, as usual, packed to the gills with car parts to take back to Kamloops. And, yes, he has bought himself a 1971 GS 455 convertible. Because the GS originated from Canada, there is a traceable history, and the previous owner supplied him with the production/option order, upon the sale. Very few of these models were exported to Canada.
We spent the remaining afternoon viewing all the fine cars on display, including a customized 1954 Special, which looked outstanding with its' deep black topcoat. We also bumped into Shane T., who owns an amazing 1968 California GS, which has been featured in a Canadian car magazine.
Driving back to Maple Ridge, after the show, a " hottie " piloting her black 1968 BB Mustang FB, went for the gold, as we left together from the Harris Road intersection onto Lougheed Hwy., westbound. It was all over at 2nd gear, and Joe and Everett were smiling as the Mustang faded away into the distance. That's an almost " close encounter of the Ford kind."
Altogether, another fun time to reacquaint, and I can't wait 'til the All GM picnic on July 5th.

    Nando.
