That thing sounds sweet! Nice job. I believe that's a car George (staged67gspwr) once owned up in New York.

That is correct. He beat me to buying it. He owned it for a few months then I bought from him. Original Florida car, went to NYC for a few months then back to FL.

I'm aware of post #11, but I don't believe he went with the same shop that charged him that insane figure, did he?

That other shop would have charged him $5k, Andrew likely was poking fun at the initial high price of the other shop.

Total is $1200 plus a set of SCE header gaskets, a starter, two gallons of the green stuff and I put the booster/master back gratis. Also blew the year and a half old gas out and put ten gallons of fresh premium in. Oh, and the $18 alternator belt we were missing is an extra.

Well done, Andrew. So around 12 hours labor plus the master and booster install by a fully-equipped shop well-versed in old car work? Sounds reasonable to me. I had to laugh at all of the weekend warriors that thought this could be done in 3 hours! Again, well done, and it sounds great.

Everyone I want to say thank you for the guidance and to Andrew for all his help. He got the car running as promised within short time. Too bad he’s over 1.5 hrs away because I would trust him with any of my cars. Very honest and communicated.
Still gotta work out some tweaks with the engine but need to speak with Scotty first. A small oil leak from what appears the oil pan and possible adjustment to the TA Roller rockers. I’m hearing a chatter when accelerating at low rpms but goes away at higher rpms.
    Thanks again everyone.

    Good deal and fair price.
Glad you had all the necessities. The couple things you needed were minimal.
When you first mentioned the job n the quote. I figured you needed everything including transmission.
