Thanks for looking at my post. I’m wondering if any of you guys have a body filler depth gauge?? If so does it work? Is it accurate? What brand do you recommend OR what brand should I stay away from? Also, is there another way to gauge if a panel has a thin coat of glazing putty as opposed to having the filler pulled on thick? I’ve used a magnet to see if there’s body filler present but I have no reference to determine how thick it is. Thanks, Mark

    436'd Skylark Sweet Fancy Moses!!!!!

Ive got one. It works as advertised. The look of shock and embarrassment on the seller's face is worth it alone.

I use a "Fender Splender" on Every car I look at either For Work/Clients, & cars I am considering. (with the Exception of Avantis, Vettes, or other Plastic Cars)
There are some Great Sculptors out there & I have seen cars that were Bought by Clients W/O assistance & the "Buyer's remorse" when work is needed after the fact. (Filler Popping 2 years after purchase in areas You would Never think of)
Even a "Spot Rot" would be a Good thing to have offering more help than a Kitchen magnet.
Looking down the side of a Car that looks Great & starts with 4.5 Mil depth on paint, then Jumps to 28, can get Very interesting (Worse when it goes "Infinite")
The Fender Splender, also recognizes Ferrous & Non Ferrous metal, so it can read Aluminum panels. Great on Steel Cars using Aluminum panels & the new Ford Trucks.
They Aren't Cheap, $200-400 If I remember correctly, but Cheaper that a Total Strip & Rebuild of a Pig with Lipstick after the Fact.
