I flew up to Minneapolis and helped Mark Ascher get started re-assembling his '65 GS this past weekend. He has been in the process of a frame-off nut and bolt restoration for many years and the paint job on the body was finished this summer. As of now the engine, transmission and alot of the wiring and related stuff is installed under the dash. I also got the privledge of meeting John Eagel who was in the area for the weekend--he has done some great work getting the GS registry organized and up to date and is a wealth of knowledge for anyone out there restoing a '65 GS.
Buick GS Resto-$$$$$$$$$$$$ Rebuilt, freshly painted, sweet looking Nailhead -$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Installing said engine into said car with a friend(s) and a couple of MGD's- Priceless :beers2: :TU: :3gears: Looks nice
Nice. Is Mark's car seafoam green? I can't wait to see that car done...in fact, I'm mad at myself for not being able too see Brians car at the Charlotte show! Great Job!:beer PS Brian, would you like to come up to Cincy to help me put my 4-speed together?
Beautiful X 3.:TU: :TU: :beer :beer That type of photo documentation is the impetus for getting my butt motivated into tearing into mine one of these days. ou:
The car is Champagne Mist in color with the roof painted Regal Black. Although it has none installed at the moment, the interior is Black.
Brian, Thanks for the posting the pics, and thanks again for spending the weekend with us. I had a great time working on the car and your assistance was invaluable. Your welcome back anytime! Thanks for all the positive comments as well. Very nice to hear after the years of hard work on this car. A lot of the inspiration to forge ahead came from many members of this forum - THANKS! I'm going to post a few more pictures in the next day or so. Mark
:bglasses: Mark, Good going on that GS. She is a beaut. Glad you are getting it on the road. Take care Mark, Biill Bailey
Dan, "Masterpiece"?? I'm blushing! Thanks for the compliments! When it's complete, my 64-65 peers will be the ultimate judges. If it turns out anywhere near what Ted Nagels cars look like (Mr. Stone and Mr. Guida as well) I'll be one happy guy. Bill, good to hear from you! Hope things are well. Whats the status on your GS?
jeez now I'm blushing! Your car is awesome, it would be wicked cool to see it at the GS nats next year! :TU: It is cool to see any '65's.
:bglasses: Mark, Thanks for asking, I have been driving it for the last 18,000 or so miles off and on, I have the interior all done custom and dual 6 way power seats, and the paint is House of Color Snow White Pearl done in my garage by a good friend and myself. This new computer so far won't let me use the Kodak Easy Share to upload pictures, but I will send them when I get it figured out. Thanks for the parts I got from you. I am still trying to find the wheel well moundings and lower rocker mouldings. I just received the rear backup lends and gaskets from Chris @ Damn Good Parts and they look perfect, I will put them on tomorrow since it is raining cats and dogs here in Kingman Arizona at this time. Take care Mark, Bill Bailey
