    Hi folks,

I have received my recently rebuilt 455. It is currently stored in a non-climate controlled garage. The engine was broken in on an engine dyno before shipping to me and has had the oil drained out of it. It is assembled except for the carb.

Is is safe for me to store it like this? I am thinking it will be a few months before I run it.

If need be, I can change my plan and get it in the car and hooked up to run. I am worried about rust as you can imagine!

It will be fine, bag it and zip tie it up maybe

The engine in my brother's car sit on the engine stand with a trash bag pulled over it for 5years without ever being fired and I would just occasionally turn it over a inch or so every month if I remembered

Thanks. That is good to know. I will definitely turn it over frequently. I am going to use some fogger as well just to be safe. It is getting into the wet season here.

Fogger is a good idea. Also, plan to spin the oil pump after install to pre-lube it before firing.

think that I would pup fresh oil in the engine to store it.

I stored mine after dyno time for aa while on a cradle in the garage. I hit it with a little fogger, then placed 3 large dessicant bags I bought off amazon on it in various places, wrapped it in an engine bag, and then shrink wrapped it up tight. Maybe a little overkill, but it was well preserved when it was opened up.

Just make sure every opening is plugged.
