Looking for comments and maybe tips on moving to E85 fuel. Bigger jets, better fuel line(rubber), allot of tunning from what I have heard. I have a bbrand new Edelbrock 600 Performer I am willing to experiment on and need suggestions. I feel it to be a worthwhile thing, but need input. Jet sizes and the like. 30% higher fuel consumption is what I have gathered so far. Can the Edeelbrock #1405's gaskets handle ethanol if I just change the jets and metering rods? I have a 350 8.5 - 1 comp. bone stock, fresh rebuild. I love the crazy ideas, so let's have them.

    alec296 i need another buick

i tried it on my 65 special
i suggest a higher compression engine to start with
the octane is roughly 100 and the alcohol needs more heat to be efficient
the turbo guys use alcohol to cool the intake charge so they can raise boost

I think Edelbrock is supposed to make a carb designed for E85.

Bottom line- Need Much more compression!

One tuning aspect to consider, is that E85 isn't necessarily 85% ethanol. There is a legal minimum and maximum % that is required, and the mix can vary greatly from station to station.

Devon gave you the best answer. TONS of info is available via the search function here and thru google/yahoo, etc.
