Anyone running a single in/dual out regulator mounted at the carb?

My system is going to be from a RobbMc 1100HP mechanical pump, through a filter, to a Mallory dead-head (4207) regulator which has dual outs, with each one going to a bowl on my (currently) Holley 850DP.

I bought the bracket from Jeg's that mounts this regulator using carb studs. The problem is that, if I'm to run everything with AN fittings, that the adapters to get to AN from the regulator will push the fittings where the hose screws in, too far forward and back. So it doesn't appear like this is going to work.

I could possibly just go a nipple and clamp route, but it seems like after all of this that the most visible piece wouldn't be with AN fittings.

I could mount it on the passenger fender and route from there, but then I just bought the bracket for nothing (and they aren't really cheap).

Who is running a system like this, and do you have some pictures to share. I don't want to just let the regulator rest against the valve cover. I'd prefer for it to be actually mounted.

    Steve:

Not sure what the bracket looks like that you're trying to work with. I'm assuming it mounts the regulator in the center (fore to aft) of the carb. Are you saying with the 3/8" NPT to AN adapter and then the AN 90* fitting on the end of the hoses going to fuel inlets on float bowls that the overall length of this arrangement is wider than the inlets for the bowls? Why not use just one outlet on the regulator and run it into a fuel log?

Here is one photo. I tried to include more photos of Jim's setup, but since I already loaded them it won't allow that again....:puzzled: Maybe I need to rename them :Do No:
There's a thread in the bench on Jim's car, with some more photos. I could send them direct to your email if you want.

It's not necessarily wider, however the regulator isn't actually centered. There's a slight bias rearwards. With the angle coming out of the bowls, I don't know that it would line up really well. The picture I have below just has a couple of straight AN fittings on it (with a 90* for the fuel intake). It would actually mount hanging from the bracket from below instead of on top too.

I would have to remove the fuel line that is installed on it now, which is like what you have on Jim's car (the same that was on it from before), in order to fully mock it up. I wasn't ready to start unscrewing fuel lines when I was checking everything out. I've also currently got the mechanical choke setup attached to the carb too (but wired open). So that's a bit in the way for clearance of the incoming fuel line. Ultimately I want this to look nice and clean - not like it was done in a hurry.

It looks like a little bit of overkill there. Are you trying to run -8 in, and -8 out? There is no need to run -8 from the regulator (probably no need to run -8 actually.) The easy way would be to run 3/8 hard line and fittings from the regulator to the carb. I use anodized Aluminium (no it will not work harden and break if it is properly installed, no problem on short runs.)
