I agree it started going downhill after the 80's. I'm 23 so I grew up on Garfield (one of favorites), Heathcliff, Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats ( I know not all of these were Sat. cartoons), Rockos Modern Life was also a big favorite along with You Can't Do That on Television (ah the good 'ol days when Nick was still new), and I always watched Loony Tunes, Woody Woodpecker, and another all time favorite: old Popeyes, preferably the B&W and blue sailor suit ones. When I was a little older I also watched Tiny Toons (ducky go down the hole  ) and Animaniacs, and Rugrats. Then lets see, The Critic (I really loved that show) and the brilliantly hillarious DuckMan!!! The only new toons I can stand to watch these days are SpongeBob (that show has become a phenomone) and the Simpsons, and SoutPark.

I loved Road Runner, Speed Racer, and (the earlier) Scooby Doo the most. What was the one with the Argo? Battle of the Planets or something like that?

I hear a collectors set of Speed Racer was recently released on DVD.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tom & Jerry, Gumby & Pokey (reruns, of course), and David & Goliath (Sunday TV). Anyone remember Prince Planet, Penelope Pittstop, Darkwing Duck? Great shows. Even caught some of the really old stuff my parents grew up with - have to love reruns.
I'm also a big fan of Lost in Space, Johnny Sokko, Ultraman, and Gilligan's Island.

Ah, the memories. Things did go downhill when some parents decided it wasn't their job to raise their kids. Thats when we got watered-down versions of the classics, and new stuff that was horrible.

You can see this in Road Runner, when it became "less violent" - you didn't actually see the coyote get nailed. It would only show it from a distance (though one humorous one showed him falling, and a puff of smoke... when he landed in a river). Then animation quality also suffered in that period.

The thing that bugs me the most is you have to keep flipping channels to get good stuff anymore. It seems it all used to be on one network channel, and now its all over the place and you need cable.

Oh, and Asians don't have slanted eyes; they don't think they have slanted eyes, or that ours are round. This is more an idea in our culture. Get a few of Asians and a few Caucasians, a ruler, and protractor (and permission, of course :Brow: ). The angle/corners of the eyes are the same... it is the folds of the eyelid and the bridge of the nose that gives the illusion.

There were lots of good 'toons in the 70's-
    Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch
    Speed Buggy
    Bugs Bunny
    Superfriends
    Scooby Doo
    Flintstones
    Battle of the Planets
    Grape Ape

Then there would be those great Godzilla movies that would come on Saturday afternoon...

So I'm reading this thread and I'm thinking to myself "self, you are getting old"...... I remember ALOT of the toons mentioned but to make myself feel better, there's alot that I've never heard of.

My oldest daughter wanted to marry Bugs Bunny for the longest time. My girls grew up with Warner Bros instead of all the newer crap. Now that they are older.......Spongebob is the Hit, and actually, I kinda like it too!

    Marvin the Martian RULES!!!!!!

    G-FORCE

Battle of Planets was my favorite. That Zoltar guy scared the Bejezits out of me.

Banana Splits also was cool. Utttt-ohhhh Chongo!!!!! (That guy wasn't quite right! Lived on Paint-chip Isle I believe)

Any body remember a show called "Hot Fudge" or "Gigglesnort Hotel". That Dragon was cool but the lemon head guy was Evil....evil I tells ya!:(

Anyone mention the "Hercuolids" yet? Those Glops made cool noises.

    Space Ghost?

Oh, man, you guys are bringing back memories.:bglasses:

Dan, I remember Jason of Star Command, he had that little white Robot (Wiki) that he used to keep in his pocket, and it always got him out of trouble with all of the gadgets it had (like a Miniature R2D2). Remember? He'd set Wiki on the floor, and Wiki would "levitate" to use his laser or whatever gadget that he had to open a door, or access another computer, or whatever, to help Jason out.:Do No:

 I'm not making this stuff up, EITHER, guys! Otherwise, Dan and I are having the same "delusion".:eek2: Oops, I almost forgot to take my medication.....How 'bout you, Dan, did you take yours today?

One of my all time fav's is the original Jonny Quest!:bglasses:

Yep, Speed Buggy, Hong Kong Phooey, The Superfriends (with Hawkman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Aquaman, those were cool). I think it'd be cool to see a Green Arrow, or a Green Lantern MOVIE, with all the computer enhancement that we have now for special effects!

"Up from the depths, 30 stories high, breathing fire, his head in the sky, GODZILLA (and Godzuki)":bglasses:

Yes, I know all the theme songs, too!:Dou::laugh:

Battle of the Planets is cool, with G-Force, and the Fiery Phoenix.
How 'bout Star Blazers? Robotech? VOLTRON!:bglasses:

For live action, remember "Dr. Shrinker", "WonderWheels (the Red Glitter "transforming" Dune Buggy"?
    LAND OF THE LOST!:bglasses:
    Space Giants!

Oh, geez, I better quit, I could be here for DAYS!
Yeah, I'd rather watch the "GOOD" shows from back then, instead of the "crap" that's on now.:TU:

Does anyone remember a mid-sixties series called Land of the Giants? I was only three or four at the time, but I remember thinking that it would be cool to be bigger than somebody. It was not an animated series.

    LOL
I like Spongebob too. Dexters Laboratory isn't bad, and I even watch Pokemon with my boy. We also watch Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Fairly Oddparents, Wild Thornberrys, Ginger...etc, etc :gt:

I'm 30 so I guess that kinda puts me somewhere between the "older" cartoons and the "new" ones.

I do remember watching Fraggle Rock and doing great spinouts on my Green Machine though!
Anyone else that had a Green Machine as a kid dying to buy "their kid" one of the new ones?? They hold up to 180 pounds you know. LOL :Brow: :gt:

Remember "BIG WHEELS" and "SIT AND SPINS" belive me I have killed a few brain cells on that thing  . The coolest thing you could on on a big wheel was go really fast, pull the hand brake, cut the wheel and do a 180 :Brow: ....I love locking the wheel up and leaving a huge black streak on my driveway....I went through a few of them  . I also love that clicker thing on the back wheel....sounded really cool too :Brow:

    man what a riot

My folks wouldn't let me watch Speed Racer after I was 6 or so. I put one of my pedal cars under the porch roof, climbed out and jumped aboard (Speed had fallen off a cliff and somehow ended up in the Mach 5). I was happily tooling about with blood gushing out of my face- put two teeth trough the skin under my lower lip. I'm 32 in 2 months and still have the scar. back then we didn't sue every time a stupid kid acted like a stupid kid. Hey, I lived!
