Gary, Racebuicks painted it last summer, I still have a new white vinyl top and all new white int. for it, I hope I can get everything together for the nats this year. I have been putting this car back together for about the last 4 years.I went to Kearney last summer with the paint only a week old.Still was assembling it in the pits.At that time I was learning how to drive the car again. My best times were 12.2's at 112.Without my switchpitch working and it was humid and around the upper 90's. Everyone else I was with their car were all about a .5 th slow. Then I decided to buy Racebuicks old motor all freshened up. So I never made it back to the track. With his old motor Mike ran 11.0's and have a similar setup with My car.Looking for that 10.90 range.Iron Heads, KB intake,1050 Dominator,608 ta cam,big tube headers and 3in exhast.Mallory ing.
Green with envy Man you guys are killin me with these mean green sleeper machines! To think I had a chance to get one recently and screwed up.ou: I have learned from my mistakes however.:Smarty: In the meantime I'll be financially buried in a Hurst Olds I can't drive. Good move John, good move (sometimes I'm my own worst enemy!). Until then keep those sleeper car pictures coming, I might have enough stuff to put one together if I can get pumped up enough to tackle it (BIG project but NOT impossible).:Brow: John
Hurst Olds John: That 69 Hurst Olds of yours is one of the neatest cars ever produced. I had a 68 Hurst Olds with A/C but sold it to buy my 70 Conv. 12 years ago. I wanted a drop top. Still miss it. GSXs, HO's and the W cars have the most eyeball of all time. Happy New Year JA.
You could say I am a fan of the green...I like the more Twilight Turquoise color on my car, though. It's one of those original colors that wasn't used too much in that year - but it doesn't look like an original shade of green, it's very rare I find a car with this color. The earthy tones were more prevalent obviously. I do like the sherwood green and black top...bery nice. Here's a shot of my car when it came off the lot in 1971 - Louisville, KY Adam
Gary, Thanks! It has been a loooooong project. Was making great progress until winter hit. :af: Maybe we will get an early spring.....yeah right! Come to think of it, this is my 2nd wagon that was green. Gonna try and attach a pic of my 1st one that was Lime Green. Not one of my favorite colors as I prefer the Verde Green. Mark
John Allen, Thanks for the kind words on the H/O. I was just about to sell it the other day to buy a drop top myself. I was looking at a blue 70 4-speed convert. but the man wouldn't sell. So you ready to trade back for a H/O?:Brow: Mines got a/c just like yours did plus some NICE options. John
Here's my Seamist Skylark. The hood is up but it at least it had a engine in it at the time. Current color is a "Seamist-Dust", can't wait for spring cleaning...
Ive decieded that in the spring Im painting my car 2002 M**tang green. Its a really vivid medium metallic green. ________ Sally_foryou
John: What a neet ride. the 69 HO. I see it has the ultra rare, correct 69 HO only sport mirrors and mailbox hood. Missing some striping and HO emblems. Is it all there? Please let me have a shot if you decide to sell it. My wife works for UAL, if they stay in business I can fly out and look at it when you are ready. Happy New Year JA
John: Got to talking with J Fritz about this very car. Turns out it was sold from the dealership here in my home town. Fritz says only two were sold in NC. So I call my friend, Dr Olds, who frequents this board whose father worked for the dealership and who had a used car lot on the side. Turns out he worked with the mechanic ,John Sauls, who we believe bought the car originally and in about 72 it was put on my friends fathers used car lot for sale. The whereabouts of the car was unknown until Fritz shows up with it 30 years later. Small world is it not? Jim Lore
Should have seen GSDAVES face the first drive in his car after paint!!:Brow: :Brow: Can you say cheeeezzzzyyyy
Jim: Thx for the info and story. Small world for sure. The 68/69/72 HOs are awsome machines. Happy New Year JA
