Getting ready to assemble my chassis for the silver car,and I have a set of the Moog CC501 rear springs. I am pretty sure these are the same ones that I put in my other cars, but they are tucked away for winter,so I can’t jack one up and pull the spring out to look.
Anyone have a picture of there car to show the ride height?

Isn't this spring supposed to help with traction ? I was thinking of getting these in hopes to better my sixty foots and attempt to get better street traction.

Not sure if its supposed to help with traction. Its a cargo coil so its a progressive rate spring. The more it compresses, the stiffer it gets. I have a set of the old GSCA coils and the rears are cargo coils. Not sure what the Moog number was for those. Still have the handwritten note from Rich Lassiter on which side the front spring with the stripe goes

They are also called "cargo" springs. They have "soft" and "hard" coils so you get a soft ride over small undulations but it gets more firm as the car presses down (cornering) or as the load increases. I would think that under acceleration the car should squat quickly and then hold. Someone with experience on the track with these springs would be more knowledgeable!

I have installed those cargo springs on 14 wheels. But there are also 1 inch lowering springs in the front.

Man, that is one nice looking car! I miss my convertible. Does that car have factory buckets?? You just gotta raise that rear bumper up just a smidge....

Yes,I have them in my street/strip car,for that reason. They play their part with making the suspension work.
Thanks for the pictures. That is the height I was planning on.

this is right after there were installed. IMG_4167.JPG Those are 295 50R15 tires. I'll try to get a more recent pic.

Thanks. Still a lot to do on it. The bumper is loose... my son pointed it out the other day....I lifted on it and it went up and down an inch or so haha. Will take a look this weekend. I added the buckets when I swapped the 3 in the tree for a Muncie M20... its not very stock/correct as I just added everything i like about 70-72s..rallye gauges, buckets, 4 barrell, power steering, hood etc. I think the original color was Cortez gold but I bought it red. May go back to it someday.

I have cargo coils on the rear of my '72 GS. works for me. They were almost knew when I was given them and were cheap.

So these springs helped your car at the track ? Right now I have the 5379 springs and they made the rear sit a little higher. Helped with rubbing issues with my P295s but was thinking of trying the CC501s for better strip traction.

    Where are your 295s rubbing?

Yes,I started using them in various cars, back n the mid-90’s. They have always worked with the street/strip suspensions that I have setup as well. I run a 325/50/15 drag radial, those springs, adjustable uppers and lowers,an airbag on the right, and a 1” rear sway bar. I have a Moser 12-bolt that has the raised upper ears. This is the same as a stock housing with no-hops. It’s a lift-style suspension, not a squat.

Yes, with a bump or a dip the outside fenderlip would come down and contact the tire sidewall. Doesn't happen with the 5379 springs. Maybe I'll go ahead try the CC501 springs.

You could roll the lip, if you want to. I think someone on the board has one of the Eastwood fender rollers. My 295's were rubbing cornering and I corrected that by adding a sway bar.

Car doesn't lean hardly at all. I put a HR Bar on and it's the best handling improvement ever for the car. I trimmed the fender lip back a bit to the edge of the fenderwell trim. Helped a little bit. Changing the old monroe rear shocks and different springs helped a lot. Just hope my sixty ft at the track doesn't suffer.
